Default “Movin’ On Up”: New Razor Cabinet

Well, fellas, I’m a little late posting this, but Santa brought me a new razor cabinet for Christmas, so I’m “movin’ on up” like George Jefferson from my cigar boxes to a proper razor display. Though I’m a passable wood-worker, I had neither the time nor the skills to design and build the works of art some of you have created for your razors. Thankfully, Wayne2k on Etsy builds and sells cabinets like these for a good price. I got his largest one, with adjustable shelves, and have outgrown it already (with maybe half of my razors moved in LOL)! (TC and MikeB52-your .50 cal DE razor display is there on the bottom shelf-my son loves it!).

The cool thing is that now that my fancy “apothecary cabinet” is part of our house’s décor, my wife wants me to get another cabinet just for “apothecary stuff” (soaps, EO’s, brushes, aftershaves, etc.), and fill one up just with razors. In fact, she is now a partner in crime urging me to buy more gear and rescale more razors to fill it/them up-just an idea for you guys who are always trying to sneak more razor gear into the house as we have all done for years. Just tell her “Honey, it’s part of our home décor.”

Anyway, I go back to work Friday, and get students back on Monday, so play-time might be limited for me for awhile. But at least I've got everything honed up and with a nice home to go back to after a shave. Take care-Aaron

    That's a fine looking cabinet.
The best thing though, is that the wife is on board.
    You better run with this.

Thanks Vern-That's the Fat Boy you sold me on the 2nd shelf on the right. I love that razor, especially for a more rushed weekday shave; set on a 7 with a fresh Voskhod blade, it's about as close a shave as I've ever had except for the best straights.

As for my wife's taste, obviously her taste in husbands is suspect. But we have learned to indulge each other's whims over the last quarter century. I got her the Rav4 Platinum she had wanted for years last Spring, and indulge her online clothes shopping and travel. She buys me razor gear and sends me on fly-fishing trips no questions asked, so it all works out.

Your a lucky man! My wife said no and she dug her heels in.
She even threatened to stop certain "activities".
So when I want to put my shave gear in a cabinet on the wall, is gonna have to wait until I have my own space.

That looks like quality work! Congratulations, you have moved to a new level.

Very nice cabinet indeed.. My problem is finding one thats deeper.. Ready for any jokes here .. I have the full size masterbedroom bath for myself and my wife has the larger master bath in the hall for herself but even with that my only room is going outward, the 3-4 inch normal shelving i fill and pack to the max... Maybe i should go on Etsy and see if this gentleman would build me a custome size for me? Hmmmm..

It looks like you have spent your vacation time wisely. A great home for your razors.

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one
