    Default NEW RALF AUST ARRIVED!

    Nice!

My 7/8” Ralf Aust arrived this late afternoon.

    Looks Scha-weet!

Weather here is a smidgen damp. And it was also delayed a few days because of bad weather back East. So I will wait a day or two (as the blade is a smidgen off center on the scales), before taking some corrective action.

It is tree-topping the hairs on my arms, so I will leave it like it is (without stropping) for my first shave.

It’s a bit late to shave now. But I have not shaved in two days in expectation for receiving this straight. So tomorrow morning will be my first shave.

It looks good on my shaving sink.

I've had a few. He makes a very nice razor attractively priced. I think it's a better bet than Dovo and most TI's.

Yeah...honestly, DOVO and TI’s don’t attract me (or impress me) much.

I don’t know what it is about the latter. Maybe too many stories floating around about flaws that should not be acceptable in a new product. (Totally my opinion).

I remember when I got into straight razors, that I said I’d only purchase one to three of them, max.

Well, I’m at around 5 that I will keep. (The three you see in the photo, a nice almost 200-year old Wade & Butcher I fully restored, and a sweet WH Morley that I really enjoy).

All are wider, and all are square point.

I have a few others (maybe 4) that I purchased really cheap, which I will be giving away, or selling, in the near future.

Anyhoo...I “ MIGHT” be interested in a wide (7/8” or wider) French or Japanese straight in the future. Just to have country variety.

But for now, I’m pretty happy with what I have, and also my newest acquisition.

Makes the rotation, and shave, different and interesting.

There you go...down the rabbit hole. But...If you're gonna go there, another Ralf Aust is a good buy,
and there are some really nice Japanese straights.

Nice looking razor. I like your setup there at your shaving station. Let us know how it works out for you. Sounds like it will be a good shaver.
