It is the hollow grind of the day. The blade was ground lengthwise.
Called a Rattler as well.
Thomas Turner is possible. First name is usually on those, though.

Should clean up, with some nice character left over.
Think of the skill it took to grind a blade like that, and get it heat treated, back in those days.

Yes, very nice condition too. Those are often referred to as a xfaux frame back," but the proper term is rattler as has been said. I have always been impressed with the skill and attention to detail it took to grind those. That one especially shows great skill. Look at how precise the lines are in that view from the point. What is your max blade width on that one?
