Default My new Wade & Butcher

I finally managed to get my hands on a large Butcher, after over a month of trying. I'm quite sure it's a regrind since the spine and tang are so huge, and it has grind marks in it. Even so, I love it. Here are some pictures of it alone, and a few with it's bigger cousin, the Savage.

Click for big pics. They were way too big to have full sized in the thread.

There isn't actually staining on the toe end, it just looks that way due to the exposure. I wanted to have the etching on the tang visible.

A shot to show how thick the spine is

Too bad it's not a full wedge...

Here's a pair of back to backs to give an idea of the size. The Savage is 8/8 at it's widest. I don't have a ruler on hand, but I'm guessing the Butcher is 7/8.

Nice looking blade. It ought to "Butcher" any hairs it comes up against. How much did it set you back? Have you done any restoration work on it at all? I think I'd set to work on the monkey tail with some sand paper or a Dremel, just to give it a uniform finish. I think it deseres a set of custom scales, too. Get creative with them.

I don't really like to discuss prices of my scores, esp the really good ones, but I will say that I think I got a good deal on her. I haven't done any work on her at all; I've actually never done more than honing.

I know this blade will be a keeper, like the Savage she's shown with, so I'm not really in a rush to dump more money in. I'm sure that in the future I'll either learn to do some restoration work, or else I'll send her out for polishing and scales.

Thanks for the kind words, all, I too am stoked about this blade.
