Now that's the kind of blade that might replace my Savage. A very nice find, especially at that price.

I don't know what happened in England. I go to antique shows etc., and find nothing.

Maybe every body gave their old knives and blades into the war effort or something.

I mean there must have been a billion straight razors in the United Kingdom, but not anymore. Good makes are hard to find and then they are often rusted beyond repair. Partly climate, partly Sheffield steel which is noted for the best of edges but also the easiest to rust when compared to German steel or Swedish steel.
It's the same reason why BMW's and Volvo's bodywork used to outlive their British equivalents like Jaguar or MG. It was explained to me as something to do with the other mineral impurities in the steel.

Great edges but rusts like buggery they used to say. Buy a PUMA.

The last pics are of the razor next to my 8/8 W&B wedge and next to the 8/8 and next to a 5/8 W&B. It dwarfs the 8/8. I'm still stunned at finding this thing. Tuesday it was one of the last razors I found and afterwards, I think I had kind of thrown in the towel for the day. What more was there to look for?
