Thanked: 84Do you like your Belgians BIG ?
I just got this Rock today.
It's a Belgian Coticule/Blue Natural Combo, it's 12 inches long, 4 inches wide,1 1/2+ thick.
It came in a fitted varnished wood box.
It was CHEAP ! I think it is quite old, it's was unused.
Both sides are quite uniform, subtle and pretty. The blue side does has a couple of shallow faults that have been filled with some waxey stuff.
It weighs a lot!
It came from a microscope shop.
I have a feeling it was originaly bought/found as a geological exhibit for a school or colleage.
I'm Christening it 'John Holmes'because of it's size!
Enjoy

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 84Cheers Jimmy, I semi-lapped the rock, my kitchen now looks like I've murdered a ton of Blueberries.

I'm not really a fan of large hones when it comes to using them, but they sure do look pretty. It appears you got a fantastic deal. Congrats.

Thanked: 84I was so cheap, I HAD to have it.
You couldn't get a 6x2 for what I paid for it. And it's 4 good 6x2 natural combo's in effect.
I need a coffee table too, I could just put four legs onto the blue side and "Job Done".....
Anyway, it's not a large hone, it's bloody ginormous !

Thanked: 84Hi, some more pictures of 'John Holmes' for you.
Can you see the cloud on the top right of the coticule?
On the last picture, showing the corner of the blue surface you can see where a fault or crack has been filled with some waxy substance.
Oh! BTW, those sunglasses are not childrens, they are my Ray-Ban Wayfairers(spelling??) and fit my fat head!!!!!!!!!!!!Last edited by littlesilverbladefromwale; 08-16-2008 at 09:13 AM.
