SR13, What's the razor on the right in the one picture? Looks nice!
Thank you avatarr1999.:nj The razor on the right is a Dovo Bergischer Lowe 5/8. The BL was my first shavable straight razor. Thank you again. STRAIGHT RAZOR 13.
Since posting the 11/1 description of my J Dixon and Wade & Butcher acquisitions I built the Lightbox described in the Wiki under Photographing Razors. Here are the pics, but I need a better camera than my Olympus Stylus point and shoot.
Thank you for sharing your pics of your vintage straights. Very nice pics. I'm also thinking of building a light box myself. Was it hard to build and what type of materials did you use? also how many and what is the wattage of the light the light bulbs you used? Take care.
If you're looking to do a lightbox on the cheap, just use a lampshade over your razor and set several lights surrounding it. The lampshade will diffuse the light and give you a nice shot almost every time.
I built my light box with a 14x14 box and poster board from WalMart. I got translucent paper (not tracing paper) from a local art store. I used some old silver and white spray paint to add a finishing touch. The problem now is camera and light. I tried lamps, they have too much yellow in the spectrum for my liking. I took pictures on the patio that worked out. My camera only goes to 7" focus. I need closer to get good before pic. I got Lynn's DVD and Bill's CD. They helped to get me started.

I purchased some photographic equipment from them during the holidays. I already had a camera tripod and borrowed my daughter's new Kodak digital camera. The result? See below...
Good luck...
