Bye thanks for the info
Not sure if it is but if it is one of those hones the ax men covet and you put it on Australian ebay you'll get big $$ for it.:gl:
yes it is go head to put on ebay. gl. Nice find.
I am so jealous.
If recent history is a predictor, that will sell for between $500 and $600. Make sure you write it up well, drawing attention for the axe-men, because those are the guys that pay the big bucks for it
Has anyone ever gotten to the bottom of why it's so good for axes? What makes it better for axes than other hones? Is it good for razors?
Well, if you bid over $500, you might be able to find out for yourself!!!
Actually, to the OP, I would gladly lap your hone to make to look as pristine as possible in exchange for the opportunity to try razor honing with your hone. If you are interested, please send me a PM.
Hehe, I don't have $500 to waste on a razor hone we know nothing about, but now that we have one "in the family" for a bit, so to speak, I wouldn't mind hearing a little bit about it. Hopefully Ron and Stevhint can work something out. With all the hones and experience Ron has, I'm sure he's the perfect person to evaluate it.
Send it off to someone on ebay at, hopefully, a high premium and buy your wife something nice and a few Rochefort 10's for yourself :beer2:
i hope you got my joke. i trust Ron always. Just let us know result. i would love to know what makes it so different from frictionate 00.etc hones. As long as we know why it is so different that is all matter to me.Good luck
Whatever you do make sure it is open to bidding in ebay Australia. No joke. That is where I have seen them go for the really big $$.
First, we're not an appraisal service, and while we sometimes talk about prices of various items, that's more of an exception than the rule. We're all here because we like straight razors, mostly for shaving.
This being said there is an oddity with some Norton stones, if yours falls in that category or not I don't know. You can certainly find out what its current market price is by selling it on ebay. If I were you I wouldn't put my expectations too high. It may sell for hundreds, or it may sell for your opening bid, or not sell at all.
If you want a bit better opinion see if the axe forums (i'm sure there are such) could help you, that seems the only lead to a lot of money that we have.
Regardless of what you decide to do with the hone, I really do hope you'll either hone up a blade on her or send her out to let someone else have a go with her. Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm curious about what a hone that "axe-men" will pay so much for can do to a razor.
You could give at least one of us a chance. i didn't know your are in MO.good luck on action. hope it will top 500.00
you guys chased him off LOL
:roflmao
I do get that you are joking, but looks like he just joined to get info on the hone; his two posts were both new threads asking for info about it. Sad that the forum gets used that way, but I guess that's how it goes. I wish he'd at least have let someone try out a razor on it as a "thank you" gesture for the information.
Then again, maybe he had good intentions. I'd better :ziplip: before I :fim:
I've flamed a couple of guys for doing this
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he got some PMs before he split
After seeing what is possibly the stone in question on eBay this evening, currently bid up to $315, I think I will visit a couple of antique stores tomorrow!
