Default Pleasantly surprised. These just arrived.

My recent acquisition from a classified ad. Cheap. I suspect they will all clean up and hone nicely. One has a few serviceable chips.

I like the Boker King Cutter a lot-hope when you get it cleaned up that there is no corrosion on the edge. The bottom razor looks like a Wade & Butcher Special, but it says "Extra Special"! I have never seen one of those, if it is indeed a W&B. Since the Specials are great shavers, yours might even be better than the usual run of Specials. I could not see the tang stamp on the middle razor well enough to identify it. What is it and are there any words? Thanks for posting and congrats on your lucky find.

SOrry for the terrible pictures. Here are a few more showing a lot more detail. I did put the polish to them.

I think I will have to sacrifice the gold on the King Cutter.

Yes, the bevel road seems to be even and straight on all 3. The "Special" is frowning a bit, but it can afford to be taken down a bit to accomodate the chips on the toe.

Much more visible now-thanks for the extra pics! so it is a George Butler! Respected name. Those are nice shavers-I have a good one with a similar blade that has a bust of Shakespeare on the blade and ivory scales. Your Butler hould hone up to be a nice shaver, as will the Boker. Haven't heard of the third brand.

Wait! Before you sand off the gold wash, check this thread on using a tumbler. Maybe it'll work without taking off the Gold wash.
