    Default newspaper classifieds

I found this razor (with the box) for 10$.

I'm a newbie so I don't really know if it could be a good shaver.

The Scale is in bad shape but maybe I can try to restore it. The blade looks like it needs a cleaning and probably honing.

But I do like the writing on the blade.

Anyone knows about this razor's pedigree?

    That's a Boker.

Which means a very fine pedigree....work on the blade. The scales look in need of replacing.

Looks like it could end up very nice. Bökers are beautiful shavers. I'd hold off on replacing the scales before cleaning them up and seeing what they look like. Sometimes the improvement can astonish. I agree with OLD SCHOOL that they're horn.

So I had a razor that looked very very very similar to that. My brother recently got into shaving with a straight razor and decided he wanted to get into restorations. That razor was a great fit (I didn't even think about really examining the scales closely). Come to find out that the scales that looked like pieces of an old barn (they were worse than these) were actually genuine tortoise...

I'm guessing you all know what happened next...

It's still cool that he's doing it

Ok, so It might not be a good idea to practice my technique on that blade. I'm supposed to pick up other straights this weekend, I'll probably have something of less value to work with.

I'll check with the real artist to see how much it could cost me.

    Thanks for the info

This blade is not for you and I must confess unsuitable for any other n00b. Please do all the new straight razor fellows a big favour, buy this razor and ship it to me for proper end-of-life care. I'll reimburse you the cost, because I'm big that way.

Perhaps I could have it completely restored and then I'll ship it to you for free. Wouldn't' it be more convenient for you?
