My first straight razor hunt went rather well. I saw a few I thought were interesting but came home with a Geo. Wostenholm & Sons Peerless.
It appears to me, although completely inexperienced, that it has seen very little use.
After arriving home and sitting outside enjoying a cigar I pulled it out for another look. Sharp! I am amazed just how sharp these blades can be. I, again completely inexperienced, can only assume the original owner parted with this in (at least close to) shave ready condition. I hesitantly say this because it effortlessly removed hair from my arm with one very gentle stroke after being disinfected.
After searching I haven't managed to find too much info but will continue to look. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Very curious just how old it would actually be.

Looks to be in quite good shape although the blade is shaded/hard to see in certain area's.

Indeed. I hope I do better at shaving than taking photos. I am horrible. Will post a new pic. Thanks for pointing that out, very noticeable now that you mention it.

This one, being my first (in hand) will be one I will keep. I managed to give it a quick stopping so I could give it a try. When I got to my chin I had to stop as it was definitely a tough area to get right. The rest of my face was quite easy, no problems at all. Preparation was the key I think.
How can I determine the age, or narrow it down a bit?

Those are early 1900's, maybe 20's? Not really sure.

As for the shaving - did you have her honed first? Also, do go slow while you're learning. Start with the cheeks then add in neck, chin, and upper lip when you are comfortable. No need to rush.

That's great, fortunately the box took the beating over the years.

Haven't had it honed yet and don't actually 'think' it needs it. It shaved great today, even managed to do my chin with no problems at all this morning. Well, minus the upper lip- got a mustache (lucky me). BUT, I will be sending it out to be honed. Must have it right, I don't want my inexperience to get in the way. No harm in putting it in a pro's hands for a few bucks even if it doesn't need it. Easy choice.

On the shelf it goes until I send it out.
