Nope-it is a pyramid but in VERY small lettering it says Gottlieb & hinesgifforeor something like that, forgot in the time it took to get here, but it definitely says Gottlieb and one thing else It shaves like nothing else I own,not even my Boker or W&B,its a brute, smoothist thing Ive ever used
Hm. interesting. I guess I was wrong then. Does the back of the tang say anything?
yes it says,Gottlieb & hammerfare, solingen, and then something I cant make out that starts with F, on the other side it says made in Germany
Check out this thread - this may be your razor's maker. Post #5 seems to have "the 411" for you.
The pyramid did not quite look right for the Geneva, but I was reserving judgement until seeing the tang. It's not a Henckels, but it still looks like a great razor!
That's a French Point...if that's what you meant by blade shape.
That's a beautiful razor :tu. Love the thumb notch too
You can glean some info about it from this listing also
STRAIGHT RAZOR GOTTLIEB HAMMESFAHR SOLINGEN FOCHE WW - eBay (item 400152399523 end time Oct-08-10 16:05:27 PDT)
You have a very nice razor there! Gottlieb Hammesfahr has been in business since 1684 in Solingen-Foche Germany. The pyramid trademark dates from 1890. I can tell you as a collector that Hammesfahr straight razors are not commonly found, unlike their better known bayonets and knives. I have only acquired 2 in the past 4 years. They were good shavers.
Thanks for the info, its a GREAT shaver, the best Ive got, even better then my Boker, and that's saying something
thanks
