    Default Antique Store Score

Great bunch of antique stores in Tarpon Springs. Their razors leave a little to be desired, if you can find old safety/straight razors in decent shape they're generally pretty proud of them. Fortunately, my RAD is in remission this days and I'll only buy another razor if I just can't help it. Anyway, today's haul away was this cool old Victorian Scuttle. Can't wait to try it tomorrow.

Not bad for $28 huh? The Yuengling Black and Tan in the background was NOT an antique store score (we stopped on the way back from the antique places and the beach.) It's powerful warm here pushing 90 degrees I bet.

    That's a cool find, congrats!
I attended the biggest flea market in this area today, and struck out. Nothing, nada, niente to find.
Good to see someone's effort paid out

Hey Birn, I did the same today with the same results. There was a Keen Cutter razor that was maybe salvagable but with the rough treatment it'd had it wasn't worth the money they were asking for it. The edge seemed straight, but it had the worst hone wear I'd ever seen...as if someone had tried to intentionally grind down the spine.

Good find GI. Those scuttles are too pretty for my taste, but I keep my eye out for them as I'd keep one around if it was as good for shaving as some make them out to be.

Beyond antique shops there is some great Greek food to be had in Tarpon Springs. I've spent many weekends there (when I lived in Sarasota) slamming down some Ouzo eating gyro's and looking at sponges. Nice find on the scuttle. Man, I need to move back.
