Default Robert Williams Damascus in Ivory

Yesterday I received an e-mail from Robert Williams indicating that my custom razor was finished. The e-mail indicated that it would be shipped on Monday. I had been talking to Rene (nicknbleeding) last week and he mentioned that it would be faster to drive up and pick-up the razor and meet Robert.
I dropped an e-mail this morning to Robert. He responded quickly that it would be OK for me and my daughter Sara to drive up. We arrived with Dunkin Donuts in hand. Robert was a very gracious host. He prepared fresh Espresso for us. Robert has a passion for roasting and grinding his own Coffee beans. Unlike most Espresso I've tasted, his was not bitter. It was very smooth and tasty and left no unpleasant after taste. It was delightful to drink as I also like good coffee. Next time I go I'm going to hit him up for some fresh ground coffee to take home.
Robert showed us his shop also. The shop has many amazing tools and also has a forge. Robert explained how they all worked and what each one did. Robert also showed us how he did the intricate work on the spine of the razors. He took a piece of steel, sanded and polished it, then showed us how he made some of the scrolling and etching. He gave us a pair of microscope glasses to wear so we could watch him closely. Roberts artistic ability is amazing. In a very short time, he created a beautiful pattern of scroll work on the spine. I am in total awe at his ability and the abilities of anyone else that can do this type of work.
Robert was also kind enough to give me a nice razor roll. It holds about 60 razors and has a leather handle and leather straps to close it. I've been looking for one for a while so it is a welcome addition.

What a stunning blade. Congratulations to both you and to Robert. Sounds like a trip worth taking!

I look forward to hearing the shave test results on this one!

That is one stunning razor! You are a lucky man, got to meet Robert, have a cup of espresso with him, see his shop and leave with a razor that is a functional piece of art. Nice!

Beautiful piece of functional art. I've spoken with Robert on the phone a bunch but haven't had the pleasure of a face to face meeting yet. That is one to pass down to the kids, and the grandchildren after that. Robert's work is to razors what a ThinkPad T420 is to laptops.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Beautiful blade, and fantastic that you could pick it up in person. I'm in line for one of Roberts, fingers crossed my number's up soon...
