A 6/8 Joseph Elliot, double thumb notch and original scales
Attachment 91575
There's a fair bit of work to do on this one, but I've lusted after those double-notched tangs since I first saw one. The original pressed-horn scales are a nice plus, too. I don't think there's anything wrong with this one that I can't fix. I don't mind patina normally, but this poor fella will probably get refinished. I think it's been sanded before and and not up to my spec.
I'd guess this is probably late 1830's. All the other blades I've seen in this style have had etchings on the blade, but any etchings this one had are long-lost to the atmosphere.
