Flea Market Finds 3/10

So here are my finds for today. 1- Frederick Reynolds with solid scales and insert. 2- W H Morley Clover Brand, albeit rusted, it doesn't appear to have been used. 3- Solid W&B with box.

Neat finds. Wish the flea markets down here had as good a selection of neat stuff as you've been draggin' in.

Got your work cut out for on the top two, but looks like that W&B will clean up pretty easy.

Those are really neat, congrats! There isn't too many flea markets around my area, but when I see the stuff people manage to find, it makes me want to check em' out.

How easy is it to clean up razors that have the amount of rust on them that the top two have?

Trying my hand at some cleaning, this site is a great source for all information regarding wet shaving! I cleaned the W & B but left most of the patina on the blade sides. I should have pics soon.

the rust...pretty easy...
the pitting underneath the rust. not as easy. especially by hand sanding...

@ ryanjewell I think there comes a time during the restoration process that the individual realizes, that removing all the steel to get to a sound substrate will affect the overall look of the razor as long as it's not along the bevel.
Please understand that I'm new to the restoration aspect of straights. Just my opinion.

Those first two look like they were put away wet and left to dry in some small, dark place. Good luck with the restore. Post pictures of the glory you bring them to when finished.

not sure i totally understand...
but like everything restoration is a YMMV thing. some people do everything they can to just remove the active rust but leave all "patina" etc...
some people (like me) are cursed to want a nice shiny mirror surface. i do everything by hand (no tools as i'm living a bit nomadic right now) so this tends to take me a whole lot longer than just removing rust.
