    Default Well my collections growing.

I visited a couple of antique shops today a brought home 2 new projects. One is a Wade and Butcher Sheffield Straight. The stamping says Sheffield not Sheffield England, I think that means that it is pre 1895. The other is a Gillette DE from about the 1960's. Here's the pictures.

Funny part is I've yet to use my first straight razor. I'm waiting for it to come back from getting honed. lol Oh well.
Best part is, together, they only cost $5. I can easily restore them and get them to pristine. The only flaw is on the W&B and that's a little tarnishing that would come off anyways. And the Gillette only needs to be cleaned and a new blade put in. So, did I do alright? I really have no clue what I've got here.

Congratulations on a nice haul. What's in that cigar box I see at the top?

Sorry. Just about 10-15 "project razors".

At $400+ per box I wish, but no.
The local Tobacco shop gave me a few empties for free when I bought some shaving supplies.

the black handled superspeed is worth the $5 alone. the WB is in pretty rough shape in the sense that that someone loved that razor A LOT as it has clearly been used quite a bit...it will be good to practice restoration on, but at 3/8 - 4/8...i have my doubts that even fully restored it will make it into your rotation. the scales look to be in good shape and will come in handy for another blade though! overall you did well. i think there is a place here somewhere where it tells you what to look for when antique shopping...that's a good thing to read if you haven't already.
    cheers
