Hey Rivera805, any updates since your first shave? I am especially curious: did the black fade/scratch away with honing?
(Couldn't find any info on that anywhere!)
Cheers!

Hey all,
So I finally found the answer, thought I'd share for others seeking answers to the same question. Turns out that Hart Steel hones their razors with electric tape at the factory:
"At Hart Steel, we use one layer of electrical tape, to protect the spine, while honing. The tape is placed lengthwise on the spine and then folded over the sides. The tape is optional, but we like it."

As a result, I figure that if you buy the "Not a Replica," when honing you might as well tape it to protect the spine, and to prevent modifying the bevel too much (since deciding to hone without the tape would then change the bevel).

I just ordered this razor. I can't wait to get it. I personally love that subdued black on black look. I'm very excited.
Was looking at that Baxter of California razor and saw this old thread, still can't find a ton of great info on it. Now that it's been out a few years any feedback from anyone, the black not wearing away, holding an edge well?
