Christmas in May

Seemed like it anyway. Had a relapse of RAD. Made a trade bought two off the bay.


Part of the trade was hones,


And I got CRAD too but not bad enough to keep it. LOL Got a buddy that loves these silly little things.


All of the razors need TLC.
The Mysterious Mr Packwood's SILVER STEEL is interesting.


Joseph Rodgers & Sons "Military Razor" has ivory scales and the strap at the toe appears to be sterling. The backside scale is cracked and that was the repair.


In addition to the two above, there is a Mappin & Webb, a Schatt & Morgan, and a Taylor's "eye witness" in that bunch.

I LOVE rusty stuff!

I LOVE making it pretty and usable even more.

Wow! You are not kidding. Lots of goodies here. Boy that Joseph Rodgers & Sons is a neat oldie. I cant tell for sure from the photo, but wonder if the scales might bone. Bone or ivory, either way, nice bunch. Best Regards Kenny

I'll keep you posted. The bevel on it is obscene at the moment. Doesn't look like the heel area was ever sharpened. Bevel starts real narrow at the heel and just grows and grows toward the toe. It'll be interesting to hone. LOL

I swear everyone in my part of Illinois must have worn beards through the entire 18 and 1900's. I can't find a razor here worth saving to save my life these days. Anyways, congrats on a great find!

That old Schatt & Morgan fascinates me too. According to one of my knife buddies, that stamp was an early one from the Gowanda, NY factory before they relocated to Titusville, PA. The edge on it looks very good and just needs some attention on a hone..

THe old Packwood is nearly sharp enough to shave right now. I may try it on that old coti and see if it'll pop a whisker before I toss it in the mineral oil and try to revive those scales.
