More eye candy!

I figured it was about time I showed off some of my recent acquisitions, so here goes!




The family razor, a Morley & Sons last used by my great-grandfather. I've only shaved with it one time. I did some work to get rid of a little pitting in the bevel & haven't got around to getting it shave-ready or sending it off to be honed. (this is the one I emailed you about, Glen)





A Dovo 5/8 stainless in snakewood, honed by Lynn. I was foolish enough to get distracted & dinged it against the faucet on its second use. Sent it back to Lynn and he was kind enough to fix my blunder at no charge. This is also the one I'm saving to use as a comparator as I learn to hone, so I've only used it one time since then.





A Dovo 5/8 in bone, also honed by Lynn. My mainstay until I started acquiring more razors.





A 6/8, quarter-hollow Hart in maple scales, initialed BG. I've used it once so far as it came in during the same week as 3 other razors.





A 7/8, quarter-hollow Hart in maple scales, initialed JA. Also used once so far as it came in the same package as the other Hart. Not sure I like the heft of this one, it's pretty beefy. I bought it because I thought I'd like a heavy blade, but now I know better.





A 6/8 Wacker "Chevalier" full-hollow French point in (I think!) buffalo horn. I love it! It's my favorite of the bunch in all 3 categories, looks, feel in the hand and feel on the face. The point is tight enough to get all the little bits under my nose and rounded enough I don't sever my head when working the neck hollows.





A 7/8 made by our very own Jenes Sandor, aka jeness. He has some better photos floating around in the customs & restorations board if anyone cares to look. It took what seemed like 2 weeks to make the trip over from Hungary & I literally opened the package about 40 minutes ago. The grind is pretty heavy, somewhere between a wedge & quarter-hollow. I'll be trying it out in a few hours, so stay tuned!

I'm confused about your statement about the Hart. Do you like the heavy blade or not? I love those maple scales

Aside from these I have an old Sheffield I gave $20 for to practice honing & a feather ac I ordered for emergency use when I only had the two dovos & both were sent off to Lynn.


Unit: Its the weight of the blade, feels awkward handling it. Could just be a matter of getting used to it though as I've only shaved with it the one time.
