My main concern with the blade is that the small blemish at the toe might continue to degrade into a large blemish.
What do you guys think?
The scales are certainly (at the very least) a nice dark horn. Normally, dyed horn is only a surface coating. it wears off. I have read that real shell materials darken over time. When held to the light, these scales have a certain translucence, and at least to my eyes, seem to have darker colors embedded deeper in the scale material. There is a damaged area of the scales that should be attended to, but again, not something that HAS to be done, and if it IS done, I will leave to a better talent than myself!
