    Default W&B Magnum

For some reason, this razor insisted I purchase it. Spent more than I had wanted, but it really called to me, and insisted I pay the ransom... I mean price.

Its in better condition than I had hoped, with the etch near perfect, and only the smallest amount of pitting all the way up at the toe. Barely any hone wear.
This one is too nice for me to risk to my own basic restore skills. I am usually the first to say "those scales are NOT turtle, they are dyed horn" , but these here might actually be. They just have a different feel to them. cant describe it.

Uh-oh... once they start talking to you, you're done for!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I'd run it "as is" if it was mine.

I had that one on the watch list. Glad it found a good home.

Nice Wade & Butcher you've got there Magpie!
Why do you think it's tortoiseshell?
Personally, when I look at the pictures, I would think they are black (or just dark) horn.

Good looking W&B you've got there my friend. I wonder if the pre-requisite for owning this beauty is to grow a moustache and own a red convertible Ferrari

Anyhow, congrats on the new purchase, well worth the overspend if you ask me

How does it shave? It is certainly a great looking piece. Congrats.

I was actually surprised that you didnt outbid me! one more dollar, and you would have had it

My main concern with the blade is that the small blemish at the toe might continue to degrade into a large blemish.

    What do you guys think?

The scales are certainly (at the very least) a nice dark horn. Normally, dyed horn is only a surface coating. it wears off. I have read that real shell materials darken over time. When held to the light, these scales have a certain translucence, and at least to my eyes, seem to have darker colors embedded deeper in the scale material. There is a damaged area of the scales that should be attended to, but again, not something that HAS to be done, and if it IS done, I will leave to a better talent than myself! (using new smiley, just because)

LOL, I had my eye on some other stuff.

As for that blemish? I doubt it will go any further as long as you take care of the razor. Looks pretty stable to me. I've got a BUNCH of razors with warts here and there and as long as you dry it good after use, I don't see a problem.

I will say that I doubt you'd ever match the original finish if an attempt to re-polish the blade was made.

Like has been said, it's your razor to do with as it you want to.

    It's a beauty.
