Gongrats whit the new fam razor,
Alway nice to hear things we love stay stay in the fam,
Congratulations! Howsomever, that, is not the hone to use on a razor!!
Enjoy the history and the memories!

I now agree with Hirlau, But still say that just any Carborundum hone would be a disaster.
Many razors I find in shops where the former owners had taken a knife hone and destroyed the edge and spine. Better to warn than sit back and say nothing.

Congrats! I have a near identical Boker that I found at a sidewalk sale in Pigeon Lake a few years back. It still shaved arm hairs out of the box. I've since honed it up (it took an edge very quickly and easily) and it's a great shaver. You might want to lap the hell out of that hone before using it, though. Enjoy.
Why is that? From the picture can you tell the difference between a Carborundum for razors and those for knives?
Boker fantastic, family heirloom priceless! Enjoy!
Is that hone two sided?
It is a two sided hone, and the box calls it a razor hone, I can't find any grit size, but the inside of the lid does have some writing, but I need to clean some old slurry off of it.
Thanks for all the comments, everyone.
For sake of discussion on the hone, could you take a few more photos of the hone & photos of the ends of the hone box with the labels. Please...
I collect Carborundum hones & would like to see the model of this one.
I can give you an idea on if or how you should use it on your razor.

Here are a couple, I will clean them up in a couple days, just cramming for a work presentation. I will post some after pics then.
Edit: Sorry for the picture orientation. My iPhone seems to have no rhyme or reason to the way it displays pictures.
Nice hand me down
