for the evening anyway. :p
Been honing on this mess off and on all afternoon. Called it quits a while ago, poured me a drink, rolled me a smoke and called it good.

ahhh a well deserved drink ...lol
I'll take the 2 blades closest to the edge of the table. PM me a price quote or I'll trade you a 1973 Star Wars autographed Chubackka playing card.
The trick with honing it that you have to lean into it. Don't let the hone lean you.
Maybe THAT'S my problem....I start with the drink and the smoke THEN sit down to hone.
Lord knows what it's like to have gooser and cheetah advise you, Wullie! Damn it's peaceful over here! No cheetah, no gooser, just me and the hones and wild turkey! ;)
That one nearest the edge is in fact a Greaves. It's an old re-grind but it's still a big old thang AND shave ready. Unlike your Packwood. ;)
Are you like me, you get 3-4 razors in the hone progression at one time?
Honing relaxes me...a drink afterwards is just pure bliss. Dang it, I forgot to run by the liquor store...finished off my Crown last night. I keep mine & a tumbler in the freezer, that way I don't spoil it with ice. Try it sometime!
I was referring to Sharptonns 9/8 Greaves when I said "you're not getting off that easily" He posted this super duper one not to long ago. Or maybe I'm just seeing it for the first time. I'll take yours too Wullie. Matter of fact we should trade my new Savage Masonic for some of your old stock...LOL. You've got too many any way
I do that with my vodka. I like my scotch, tequila, and bourbon on the rocks. Tried it both ways and for me, the ice cubes are the fun part after the drink is gone. :)
You'll TAKE mine? MIne aren't ready to be RETIRED yet. They enjoy being used. :p
Yeah I usually lay out several and go for it.
I like the cubes, straight up. Starts out rich and leans out as the finish nears! ;)
OH, Cheetah. That ain't a Greaves. It is a C. Congreve. OR a Concord Condor, whichever you prefer! I do think I have an 8/8 Greaves in my "sack O' Sheffields, though.
In the words of my ancestors, "Come and Take it" :jedi:
In the words of part of my ancestors
"THIS IS SPARTA!"
as I kick you down the well...LOL.
i could swear ....there was one that you posted recently that I fell in love with. It was a big blade, black horn handles with a rectangular box cut out that said sheafworks I think. I'm mad that I can't find it now.
Maybe I'll just make that trip to Texas...LOL
Attachment 116206OH? You mean this one? It now lives in Philly with Tarkus! Good luck with that! Perchance you would like THIS one? It is an old regrind in my rotation. You shan't have a chance! I DO have another in my display. Thou shalt be whipped as thou gains possesion! Does't thy sword be of good temper? If not, Tejas shall be thy doom. We have cheetah bbq's on most weekends! ;)
If I were to have a drink every time I hone, I would
A) be paralyzed on the floor
B) be out of business
C) be a stockholder in BandAid corp
YEah. Like my companies holiday party. After drinking more than I would on a usual dinner night I started thinking about those roadblock/alcohol check points. So I took a cab. Sure enough on the way home there was one set up. Because it was a cab the window didn't even have to go down they just waved it on through. Well, now I don't remember exactly where I got the cab and the darn thing is still parked out in front of the house. Hope when they find it they don't knock on the door asking questions.
I took a bus and parked it in front of a neighbor's house that I can't stand. ;)
Nice spread Wullie! I also like the friendly ribbing and camaraderie in the thread which makes this a awesome forum. If and when I ever make it back to Texas or New York again I might have to look you all up.
Wishing I had Wullies bottle tonight. Some times, there simply isnt enough wine!
Yep! you got some honing to do, Cheetah! We are surely here to help! Make it a resolution :beer1:
Just noticed.... Hey! Maple's back!;)
How much more money am I gonna have to spend here before I see some returns on my investments..LOL I'm excited to move on to the next stage of this journey though. $12,000 dollar stones and 3 cent scotch tape on the spine. GOT IT! Diamond technique CHECK!
Easy big guy! Don't go hog wild! (not you!) Give a shout!
This is not a money making venture!
This reminds me of one time at the race track. There was a car sponsored by Blah Blah investments. [many guys sponsor themselves for the tax write off.]
I told him that I would never invest with a company that invested in race cars.
He didn't see my humor!:rofl2:
Hey Cheetah, If you show up to the NY meet, I will hone a blade for you, so you wont have any excuse not to shave!
