You gotta see this :) Just got it, not a razor well literally that is but its close!!

I love straight razors and shaving and everything to do with it. I have wanted to get something like this done for ever, well today I finally took the the plunge. I do draw myself so I drew up a razor design with a saying that very much suits my life as well as my razors...enough talk here it is. A tattoo to show my love and dedication :)

The last pic with the ribbon around it with the saying "never a dull moment" is the one that I got. I am really sorry but I can't upload a pic of the real shot till 10:00 tonight. thats when the bandage is allowed to come off. these pics don't do the tattoo justice at all. It came out better than I could have ever imagined. A tiny drop of blood was supposed to be falling off the end of the blade but decided at the veryyy last second not to do it. but like the tattoo artist said, I can always add that on. Please share your comments, I would love to know what everyone thinks. It is located on my left forearm :)

I most certainly will you have my word on that, I am kind of considering just quickly taking the bandage off for two seconds too get a really quick picture. I don't think it will cause any problems, if anyone thinks otherwise about that please let me know asap cuz i really want to get a pic of the actual finished tattoo :) for everyone here!

Leave the bandage on for the prescribed period of time. Usually 3 or more hours. It makes a difference in the healing and the final outcome. It will be there tomorrow for the picture. I like to leave mine bandaged overnight. YMMV.

That looks great,had all mine removed in 1970 Pre-laser:(( ther scars are worse than the tats were.

I like it, clean lines and well proportioned. Looks good. I'm interested to see the completed tattoo.

thanks everyone, I honestly cant wait till ten so i can take the bandage off and post the actuall tattoo. so much detail even down to the scales showing the woodgrain. it was just fabulous. he did it exactly the way I drew it so It was a very exciting thing for me :)

Almost makes me want a tat. Will wait for the actual pic but I bet it's like you say. If I made custom razors I would make you an offer you couldn't refuse and I think the animated look of your design would look nice in real steel also.

Funny you say that because of the couple custom razors I have had mad for me the tattoo design I drew is based on one of the customs I own from one of our own members here at SRP. I did change it of course to make it my own but the inspiration came from the custom that Stu made for me from Australia :)

Well then you have to be holding the razor when you take a pic of the tat. :<0) I am wondering if keeping it covered has something to do with the ink colors retaining their brightness ?

There are a couple of tattoos I wanted in the past that I'm glad I never got, I believe that's a good indicator that I shouldn't ever get one!

That looks nice! Im looking forward to seeing the actual tattoo instead of the stencil. I've thought about getting a straight tattooed on my ribs, just because I dont have any tattoos on my ribs yet. Maybe I'll get around to that this year. That is if I can quit buying actual razors first. Haha.

As far as healing and bandages go, I never leave mine covered for more than about an hour or so. Then I wash them off and apply another thin layer of A&D. After 24 hours of my first A&D application I switch over to regular unscented, dye free lotion for the next three or four days, and typically Im all healed in about a week with no scaring or anything. Although everyone heals differently and the location of the tattoo and the hand and technique of the artist play a bit of a factor, so what works for one doesnt work for others. But I am heavily tattooed and worked for a while as a tattoo artist, so I've heard basically every method of cleaning and taking care of a fresh tattoo during the healing process.

lets not get into that. I really love the tattoo beyond words can explain, but that is the one little thing that i didnt think about before we started. so its there and not going anywhere. so im just gonna stay as happy as i am with it :)

Yes they do shave the area as any hair in the tattoo could cause the needle to jump or drive the hair into the skin causing an ingrown hair and potential problems in the quality of the tattoo. As far as the razor used, typically its a yellow Bic because they are cheap enough to use once and throw away. Most tattoo artists arent going to use a straight to shave the area just because if they slip and cut you, the area now has to heal again before it can be tattooed. It just makes more sense to use a cheap throw away Bic.

thank you very much, I am so happy with how much everyone seems to love the phrase. It sure took me a while to come up with it but when it came into my mind i knew right away that it was just perfect for not just saying it about straight razors but also about my life. it was so perfect that i wouldn't consider any other suggestions I was hearing from other people in the tattoo shop. Thanks again :)

It is a shave in its own class. its quite the big blade. really the only chopper I have. I only use it when I have a heavy beard :) and it slices through with no problems

It was a design that I just liked so i dont know i just went with it. I don't have thick arm hair there anyways so it don't matter much
