My straight now has a home.
I was new to the art before I met Obie, and he set me straight.
A young man needs mentors.
Below documents how far I've come.

The above link shows just my razor, a Paul Steinmetz.
Today I rescued an old wooden box. Although I still intend on getting a stand for my razor I've been wanting to get a box to store my supplies in and/or use as a display case for my razor. I wanted to find an old one. As I'm going on in life I'm finding that old, often means well-built. This box is a perfect example of the aforementioned. Without further delay, here it is.Attachment 127589
It's solid, it has character, and to me it's perfect.

Here is "my set". It didn't cost me thousands, or even hundreds of dollars. It's just the basics. The brush won't be in this box when it's drying--this picture is just to show what I started off my journey into the straight razor shaving world with.
1. Arlington Shaving Bowl (a subtle, low key scent)
2. Styptic pencil
3. VapoRub (I dab it on the bottom of my nose and breath it in during the shave--it works wonders).
4. Paul Steinmetz full hollow
5. Comb (just because!)
6. Brush
7. Nail Clippers
8. (Not shown) Martin, Sinatra, and The Smiths being queued up in the background before a shave.
This is all I need for now. Someday I may have an impressive shave den like Obie's, but I must earn that with time and experience first.
