70+ razors in 30 days.....

picked this guy up during my recent "70+ razors in 30 days" stint. just cuz i liked his style! there was a couple pretty nasty chips when he first came in, reduced his statue from a pompous 13/16 to a humble 6/8. i still need to go through and clean him up well, address the scales and put a real edge on him but safe to say im happy i have a thing for french points and beveled spines and this one has both.

and another of the months goodies:
13/16 joseph elliots chinese razor. i recieved it in the mail, unwrapped it, honed it up without tape, prepped for my shave and gave it a go. i dont usually get to test a blades shave so quickly, absolutely thrilled with this buy.

very nice phrank! im a fan of those scales, aztec something or other? i wish the etch on mine was in the shape yours is but still happy with the overall blade. im not sure what direction ill go with mine yet i hate the scales on mine. original sure...... but i hate them

oh dont be impressed, i buy up all the overpriced, rusty old stuff nobody else wants
all kidding aside, these two were ones i was excited about, some others- w vernon & sons, wm jackson & sons, a shumate tungsteel with a nice smiling blade, a couple w&b, a hancock bros, a few more w&b, random assorted american blades, a packwood that i love and should have been one other packwood but a guy outbid me at the end
i really dont remember the other stuff, it all went in boxes haha. ill dig through and try to post some as i clean em up

Looks like it has been reground but still nice. Mine I think has just been polished really good & the guy I got it from said Max did it with the new horn scales!

wow, man i love to see those clear markings still there! yes mine is most definitely reground but masterfully done at that. i was shocked how well ground the regrind was to minimize the wear. the little bit of the stamp is missing but they reground the blade while leaving the face markings mostly intact, mustve been deep markings! i put it right on the hones without taping the spine and shaved with it within 15-20 minutes, bevel size virtually unchanged. it was ground nice and tight, very well done in my opinion. that respect is coming from seeing hundreds and hundreds of reground blades from this period, none garnered respect like this one. odd how something like that speaks to me almost more than if it were all original!

Yep! It's too bd they can't talk. Just think of the many stories one can tell! I was surprised when I first saw mine on the bay & I had just sold something so I told myself, I've gotta have that one! I won two from the guy & they are just so pretty!!! I need to find the other one. I forgot what it was at this moment but a little bit of thinking & it will come back to mind. My Elliot has just a spot missing from the "E". It's like they didn't stamp it clearly or the stamp was not perfectly made because the rest of it is stamped very nicely. It is definitely a nice razor. I love yours as well, very good work done to it which one can tell! As usual, Max did a great job on the one I got. I still have the old Marsden I won from you on the bay that time which had the wooden scales someone made long ago. I have left it the same since the scales were made so long ago, I feel they are a piece of history from its old owner.
