The timeout seems to be much shorter than 15 minutes - more like 1 or 2 minutes. I signed in, clicked on SOTD, and entered a 5-line SOTD entry, and had to sign in again to submit it.

Me too. I'll try the remember me button, but if you see any uncharacteristic posts - they may not be from me! Posting from work after all.....

I checked again.. it's really set for 15-min. I'm guessing that you either are not running with remember me checked or you have a security setting that's causing the problem.

Try going to the main site, log out, and then log in again (still on the main site) making sure the remember me box is checked. This will clear the existing cookies and create new ones for you. When you leave the site, do not log out. And again, make sure your browser and/or security settings ARE NOT set to delete cookies and that you have java and javascript enabled..

FWIW, I often get interrupted in the middle of creating a post or reply or PM... sometimes it's hours before I return. I never recall "timing out" and/or having to log back in, so I've never personally experienced what your describing.

I just signed on, checked a PM and when I clicked "reply", I had to sign back in. This only took 15 seconds, maybe 30 sec.

I did use the "remember me" button and I've not had anymore problems.

I had the same problem, of getting logged out all the time, when I logged in from the SRP homepage (the top right side panel). However, when I logged in from the forum, it worked just fine. Maybe the top right side panel on the homepage isn't working right? And yes, I did check the "Remember me" box in both instances.

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.9 on Windows XP Home, in case that info is of any help in resolving this issue. (I know a lot of stuff online are designed specifically to only work with M$ Internet Explorer.)

Well, you're running exactly what I do... firefox, logged in with remember me checked from the home page. I'm using XP pro, but I'm sure that doesn't matter. I've never had a problem except when I explicitly logout to test something and forget to log in again.

When you login via the main page with remember me checked, a cookie is created that the forum recognizes... so, if you log in with remember me checked via the main site page you should never have to log in via the forum.

If cookies are blocked on your system in any way, you'll have a problem. Are you sure you haven't changed your security settings to your disadvantage? Ie, in Firefox: In Tools/Options/Privacy do you have "Accept cookies from sites" checked? Is "keep until" set too "they expire"? (I believe these are the default settings, BTW) Have you made any security choices in XP that would affect cookies?

I tried replicating the login problem today, and I couldn't, so maybe it got fixed along with the Classifieds, because the chain of events, as far as I can recall, was:

1, Log in via the login panel on the main site, checking "Remember me".
    2, View Classifieds.
3, Go to Community -> Forums
4, Discover I was logged out.

Anyway, I had no problems whatsoever when I tried it again just now.
