    Default Keep getting logged off

I realize there must be a time limit that automatically logs people off after a time of inactivity. Is there a way to increase that time?

Many times, I'll be typing a PM or a post and hit submit only to find I'm logged out. Thankfully, I don't lose my work when I log back in but I wonder if there is a way for me to lengthen this time?

I noticed this as well today. I solved it by clicking on the 'remember me' check box on the log-on screen.

There is a time limit... it's currently set to the default, which is 900-seconds (ie, 15-minutes).

I believe if you periodically were to do a preview it will reset the timer.

EVERYONE should be running with "remember me" checked, cookies enabled, and java/javascript enabled. If you don't, the forums (as well as the integration between the main site and the forums) will not work correctly.

The timeout seems to be much shorter than 15 minutes - more like 1 or 2 minutes. I signed in, clicked on SOTD, and entered a 5-line SOTD entry, and had to sign in again to submit it.

Me too. I'll try the remember me button, but if you see any uncharacteristic posts - they may not be from me! Posting from work after all.....

I checked again.. it's really set for 15-min. I'm guessing that you either are not running with remember me checked or you have a security setting that's causing the problem.

Try going to the main site, log out, and then log in again (still on the main site) making sure the remember me box is checked. This will clear the existing cookies and create new ones for you. When you leave the site, do not log out. And again, make sure your browser and/or security settings ARE NOT set to delete cookies and that you have java and javascript enabled..

FWIW, I often get interrupted in the middle of creating a post or reply or PM... sometimes it's hours before I return. I never recall "timing out" and/or having to log back in, so I've never personally experienced what your describing.

I just signed on, checked a PM and when I clicked "reply", I had to sign back in. This only took 15 seconds, maybe 30 sec.

I did use the "remember me" button and I've not had anymore problems.

I had the same problem, of getting logged out all the time, when I logged in from the SRP homepage (the top right side panel). However, when I logged in from the forum, it worked just fine. Maybe the top right side panel on the homepage isn't working right? And yes, I did check the "Remember me" box in both instances.

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.9 on Windows XP Home, in case that info is of any help in resolving this issue. (I know a lot of stuff online are designed specifically to only work with M$ Internet Explorer.)
