Thread: SRP blocked at work

Lo and behold some clever fruit basket at work has decided that anything with the word "blade" or "razor" in the domain name should be blocked.

I am therefore unable to visit SRP from work and have to resort to my phone. A little peeved off to say the least.

Is there anything that can be done to show that this place is indeed safe and contains no offensive content? Seems ludicrous that a shaving forum is barred - I can still access TSR which is UK based and Basenotes but this is really ridiculous now!

I know some filters can be bypassed by using https:// instead of http://

Pretty common thing. It prevents from getting distracted with non-work related things while at work.

They do the same thing where I work, but haven't blocked SRP yet.....
Facebook, YouTube, guns, knives, work union sites all banned

Stefan has it right though about the "you should be working, not playing", but hey they installed the computers and hooked up the internet...
The way I work I'd never get anywhere to get anything - so it's a blessing to have it available

They can't block our Union sites here. That would be a major event!

At my work the Lightspeed software blocks all forums, as well as any site that mentions anything that could be construed as a weapon. Work is a public school system so I can kinda understand why.

You also have to worry about big brother programs...you can be watched very well through your computer as they can document the amount of time you are active doing what. Keep that in mind when you are at work loafing & checking out non work related websites. I had this type of software installed on our server before I left for railroading. It can be a useful management tool if you have an employee that you need to let go & "need" a valid reason.

Well I totally understand what you guys mean. I work in IT so I should know better but at the end of the day it prevents me from coming here a lot more, which is a shame.

Too bad it's still 1990 and there's no practical way for a person to get internet service at home. Oh, wait...
