    Default Girding My Loins

So I'm working on posting a SOTD when I am satisfied with what I see. What size photo is recommended?

    Thanks

I think if larger than 667x500 it will be resized down.

I don't think the smaller sizes are processed, most likely not, though someday I probably should set a filter to do a lossless compression since many people's software makes the files larger than necessary for a given image quality.

So, basically, at this time, just take your photo however you do it and then post it. Is that right?

If you don't care about particular size yes. One caveat though, if the original size is too large (I think over 2MB) it may not upload in the first place.

Some people are pretty picky and want specific size (I know some guys who are very particular about such things and insist that the image is say 400x400 even when 500x500 is possible, just because they think it looks better in 400x400). It is much less meaningful than with physical paintings/photographs, because everybody has different screen size at different resolution which they look at from a different distance, so it's not like an exhibit in a gallery, but there are these people.

I also noticed that there are some SOTD pictures that are 500x500 (don't know if the poster uploaded a larger image which got rescaled or uploaded that size directly). But the resizing that happens on the server preserves the aspect ratio of the original image.

But for most people it doesn't matter that much, so they just upload whatever they have and let the system resize it down if needed.
