While were here why is there 2 sets of scroll bars.
Its mildly irritating when reading the forum using the keyboard.
I have to keep going back to the mouse to click outside the tread to use the outer scroll bars. It also means that I have to scroll over to see the whole thread sometimes when there is plenty of room in the window
I'm sure it's there for a reason but hey, if you don't ask.
It is likely your browser. What are you using? I can't see from the picture.
W3C compliance, though very good, can be a bit tough to reach some times, especially when your dealing in a CMS. We strive to reach it, but sometimes it is impossible. For instance, the code used to embed flash into a html page is not w3c compliant, so if your going to use any flash, then you can pretty much give up on making you site fully compliant. I have read about ways to make it so, but they seemed like a lot of work for something so minor. Still, I respect the W3C for all they have done. Where would we be without CSS.

Paul -
How do you access the forum? Are you using www.straightrazorplace.com/forums?
Or do you go through the main page on www.straightrazorplace.com?
Hmmm... I don't have two scroll bars on my WinXP system. I tried using both Firefox and IE browsers, both loaded via the main site and directly... I only ever have a single (vertical) scroll bar.
Edit: BTW, there is no longer a difference between loading via the main site and direct... Admin disabled loading the Forum in a frame many months ago.
I have two scroll bars in my WinXP IE7, but not in Firefox....
....so, evidently, anyone using that POS IE7 is SOL!
(...hey!...I think I'm starting to get it!...next thing you know, I'll be speed-eating oreos and chugging Red Bull....)

IE7... one scroll bar.
Thats it on the nose.
I had been using www.straightrazorplace.com.
If I enter through www.straightrazorplace.com/forums? the frame is gone.
Thank you
IE7 BTW I tried firefox and found no discernible difference so stick to what your used to.
That might seem to fix it, but that's not the problem because when you click Community/forums from the main screen it takes you to www.straightrazorplace.com/forums... so either way your're going to the same place. And with my copy of IE7 I don't get a double scroll bar no matter what options I try that might affect it. What version of IE7 are you running? Do you have any add-ons installed?
I have 3 pc's at home and 2 in work all run xp and various versions of ie7, all behave in the same way.
OK, granted, I'm an idiot...and I don't think that would surprise anyone....but could it have to do with monitor size/settings? I never seem to have the scroll bars on my laptop, which has a wide screen monitor.

That was my first guess too, but I played with various screen settings yesterday and could never get the second scroll bar to appear. Admittedly I gave up pretty quickly since there are n! variations to try and n is substantial. It also could be an older version of IE7 or a javascript thing.
Paul, if all your PCs perform the same, is it possible they all have the same software and settings... maybe all installed by the same person... so the same issue is in all of them?
very possible at home (self installs) but I work for hp and pc setup is automated so it would be unusual if I repeated some same error at home.
It looks to me like if I open new posts from srp.com it responds by opening forums in a frame. Could this be an option I have chosen in IE7?
Paul,
Ok... that's the key... clicking "new posts" in the login form area of the main site page. I missed that in my attempt to recreate the problem (I almost never use that access although it's a good one... I just never developed the habit of using it).:o:o:o
It indeed loads the forum in a frame and from that point forward in the session the forum functions inside that frame.
When David changed the Community/Forums menu call to load the forum in a window rather than in a frame he missed updating this area. When one of us gets a chance we'll take care of it.
Until we change it, you can avoid this problem by loading the forum either directly ( www.straightrazorplace.com/forums/ ) or by using the main site's menu "Community/Forums". Eitherway, once the forum is loaded you can click "New Posts" on the forum's navbar (or whatever other action you desire).
