Thread: Do Classified Posts Count In Weekly Minimums?

Just something I did not know so thought I'd ask.

Why I am confused...If he is posting to classifieds already, What does it matter?

Just to get things rolling I would guess an ad is not a post in the forum. Therefore my answer would be NO ! answer = guess

Ohhhhhh. Well, I see this. I need a minimum of posts to post to classified, right? So do my posts to classifieds count toward posts needed in order to post to classifieds, which I am doing already because I want to know if they count toward posts needed to do so. Or what?

The posts should be in the general forums, the monthly giveaway thread does allow your entry to be one of your qualifying posts though.
It isnt like the requirements for qualfication for either giveaways or classifieds are terribly strenuous to comply with.
I dont think i am in a position to need to worry yet anyway.

THAT was the impetus for my question! Now I remember the series of events...

I was reading the Giveaway Rules Changes in Purple and it made me wonder, "Hmmm... I wonder if a Classified Post counts toward the permissions totals?"... And, later the question was still rattling around when I found no specifics in the TOU and then started this Post.

To be certain, this is simply a curiosity Post... I'm not questioning whether Classified Posts should or should-not count... Just a general query as to if they count like the Giveaway Thread Rules mention such a Post counts there.

With no post requirements before placing ads the classifieds would become SRP bay and the trust factor would drop to the same level. Buying from community members assures a certain level of integrity behind the ad. These well thought out little details keep SRP what it is and what we all come back to enjoy.

No, the classifieds do not count. Usually these things happen in response to something. I hate to keep making rules, and would prefer that people would just behave well on their own, but it doesn't always happen. Creating a rule at least ensures that it is something that can be applied uniformly and objectively and addresses particular behavior not particular persons. Although I still get accusations from those who don't get to do what they want that they have been unfairly targeted, but that's just how certain people are.

Nothing has changed with any rules, and I think the new text in the raffle is just more clarification (that should not be necessary). Multiple entries in the raffles have never been allowed, and 'posting on four separate days between the raffle contests' to be eligible to win seems pretty simple and clear.
But probably there are enough people who post multiple entries in the raffle sign up thread and nowhere else in the forum, expecting that they're still eligible to get something for free.


In any case, this site is a community; not a fleamarket, not a free billboard, not a place to just get freebies, so to keep things in proportion there are certain incentives to hopefully nudge those who are primarily interested in the secondary things towards the main purpose.

Pro-forma compliance doesn't work well either - if somebody would, say, only post 'nice razor' type of posts in order to sell for free in the classifieds that is bound to be noticed and it's not going to work for too long. It doesn't make sense to give people access to the community if the only thing they are interested in is profiting from such access without contributing anything to advancing it.
