Thread: Failed log in attempt

Hi all,

With this message I'd like to address the moderators more specifically. I just received an e-mail informing me that someone (or maybe a bot, I'm not sure) tried to log in using my account. I know it wasn't me since I haven't been here for some time.
I did get an IP log, and at least the server could be traced back to Opelika, Alabama, USA.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that someone might be trying some shady stuff. I'm always able to give the exact IP information, to moderators only as to per discretion.

Yeah there are bad people who try to break in people's accounts for whatever reasons. SRP is very secure and part of the security is these notifications when the system detects several failed attempts to log in along with a block on the IP address where those failures originate.

These have usually been usually from China not from USA, but lately we have also had increased trolling from well known entities, so it is possible it's the latest campaign against us.

As long as people use passwords that are hard for others to guess within few tries their accounts are secure.

Also all passwords are stored in strongly encrypted form, so there is no way for anybody to obtain a password from SRP.

I got it & forwarded it to a mod & I then deleted it. I didn't even click on the link or open it because I knew it was a bunch of BS!!! Apparently it's some jackass that has nothing better to do with his/her time that they think this is what they call fun to them or it is a bot like what was mentioned but still it's really childish BS!!!!!!!! I just don't get it.......................
I have much better things to do with my time like hone a razor or make some scales or similar.

Ya got that right! As soon as I saw it I knew it was some scummy BS, so I didn't open it. Instead, I forwarded it to Gugi. I did not know it had already been going on until I got it. I deleted it so I hope there is no more.
