I could see the buyers trying to avoid sniping...but why sellers?
Because the whole purpose of sniping is to not give the other guy a chance to think and react...less income for the seller.
Having read the whole thread, I can offer my thoughts on the classifieds, having sold some items there. The requirement to have x posts in the last y weeks can be a problem. I understand why it exists but why can't it be changed to include members of a duration and a minimum number of posts. I have had times that I didn't have time or inclination to post regularly but would like to sell something and was not able.
sniping happens in the last few seconds of an auction at the same time monkeys are frantically banging on their keys...how can anyone not like that?
Reality is more mundane. Many buyers use sniping programs and are nowhere near their computers.
I am getting the feeling that you don't like sniping programs?
I don't like them but accept that they are around. I usually decide how much something is worth to me and then just place a max bid for that. It only stings when I miss getting something by a buck...
I've used a sniping program. I like the concept. I put in a bid as high as I feel like I want to go and forget it. Won some, lost some. I'd rather do that than get caught up in the hysteria. And remember, sniping programs are also competing against fellow sniping programs.
