Default New to all of this, so hello.

Hi as the heading suggests. I am new to this. Well over christmas I purchased these two razors. Sheffield Straight Razor by Edwin Blyde & Co 5/8th, Rosette 80 straight razor. Could any of you fine gentlemen tell me if they are worth it, or should I have saved my money. Thank you

    Hi Dav

Welcome to SRP. There is a wealth of information here and a lot of people willing to help you with shave related questions.

We don't do valuations but you are most welcome to post pics of your purchase and members will comment on what you show. We like pics, lots of pics.

It might help if you listed your town. There might be a member near by that would give you some hands-on help.

Here is a link to help you find members in your area.

Hi and welcome. Being worth the money is very subjective with razors. We all have razors we love and their worth to the individual is determined by desire.

If you're just starting out then I would decide worth in terms of usability, if they are shave ready then they are worth what ever you could afford.

To determine if they are good it would really help for us to see them, do you have pics?

The rosette is on my short list. Looking at the pic if it is the seller on the bay that I'm familiar with the prices are good imo. Not sure about the sellers honing ability because I have never used one of their straights, but I know most of their ads come advertised as shave ready.

Hi dav3, welcome! You came to the right place! The amount of usable knowledge here on this site and with these members is mind blowing. I don't know your reasons for starting to wet shave, but any reason to make the leap is a good one. Take things slow, and reach out to the guys whenever you have questions. It's been my Experience that there Will be someone that you can vibe with and get the proper guidance. Enjoy!

Hi Dramadon3151. Thanks for the reply. I have been wet shaving for about 5 years now (DE). But have decided to give straight razors a go. I like the idea of the traditional shave if that makes any sense.

    Welcome!
Most vintage Sheffield and German razors if they are in good shape and without damage will give a great shave and hold an edge
