Thanked: 3795Hi miskaya!
Since this is your first post, I'm going to treat it like it's your first post! I know, that was deep.
Where are you located in Iowa? Do you need any one on one help? Mainaman lives in Des Moines and he can help with anything. I lived in Iowa City for 20 years but now am in Rochester MN but still consider myself an honorary Iowegian. If you ever come up my way I'd be happy to help you with whatever you need help with too, but as I've said before, Mainaman is nicer!

Thanked: 1Thanks for the warm welcome. So much for my first post being incognito....
I am in the Des Moines area, but just getting back to using a straight razor after more than 35 years. My grandfather taught me to use one when I started shaving, but I got lazy. Time to get back to basics I guess.

Welcome, Mishkaya!
To answer your first post, in addition to what JimmyHAD said, purchasing official "SRP Goods" (link below) helps support the site. Though SRP only gets a percentage of the proceeds, it still helps. Plus, you get shaving swag from it !

Srp is incorporated so the fiscal angle is not an issue. I appreciate the ideas here and will propose it to lynn and don as soon as the classifieds stuff is implemented

In response to addisons post, you can donate to the giveaways by contacting bill who runs them.

Thanks Bruno, SRP is important to me and many members here, and the work that is done by you and others is valuable and worthy of being properly compensated. I figure SRP is a Premium site, and I'd like it to have a Premium service and reputation to go along with it, and that requires ensuring that it is properly funded to provide that premium service, which spread out amongst all the members who care about this place, would, without a doubt, make a significant difference in my opinion to the Operations aspect of the site and leave more time for the fun stuff.
Appreciate you considering this...at the very least, can't hurt to give it a try...

I for one, would pay $5 to get my username changed.
I run a board as well thats completely user funded. I let them donate to get a larger inbox and be able to change their user titles. Every once in a while we do a fund raiser or a raffle to replenish the pot when its running low. It's also a common thing to only let contributors post classifieds.-Dana
