same place just different name all just transfered, no hi jacking, thats what we did to keep from being hijacked, so no new owner same place,
Welcome back Joe,
No hijacking of any kind nor are you blocked in any way.
As you can see the only difference is the domain/name. We had to change it to straight razor palace in January of 2018 to keep the forum operational. For many years I had a partnership with the registrant of the original domain. I provided the service/website and the registrant pointed their domain to it. About a year ago they decided to leave our community and take their domain with them pointing it away from the forum. The forum still existed in the same way as always but when someone typed the old address they ended somewhere else.
It's a little bit like a house and a road to it. When the old road got rerouted to some other place (very easy to do on the internet) we had to set up and use a new road to get us to ours :)
The change from straight razor palace to sharp razor palace happened two months ago because the same people then claimed that our new name, straight razor palace, infringes on theirs and their rights and unfairly competes with them. (Apparently, for over a year now, they have been working on creating a forum of their own and intend to point their own domain to it.)
We certainly wish them best and the last thing we want is to prevent anyone from creating or running their dream forum. So we simply changed our name yet again to Sharp Razor Palace :)
The actual service has remained the same and nothing has changed for over 5 years. The only difference is the address you have to type to reach it.
Again, nice to see you back and I hope you continue to enjoy the camaraderie here :)
^^^^^^^^^^^^What he said!
And just to add FYI, if not for gugi this forum would have been shut down and all the knowledge, tips, etc. that was imputed by all us members would be lost! Many thanks to him for his expertise, experience and interest in keeping this site up and running...........
Amen Mark!
I am proud and humbled to be part of such generous and kind community as ours! Everyone has always come here to share and help others and this is why there is no obstacle or setback that can ever stop us :)
We all (thousands of people) built this together over more than a decade and for the sole benefit of the joy and satisfaction from sharing our passion with everyone! And it belongs to all of us as it always has - from the very beginning we set up the Terms of Service as a free and open community with every person retaining the copyright of their contributions. I have always loved that everything here is about sharing freely and generously - this is how we preserve, grow, and enrich our common and individual knowledge and strengthen our bonds.
I am encouraged daily as I see how we continue to touch people in real and positive ways. Thank you all for the great fellowship and making all this possible!
I have been away for some time, long story. But when I came back I ended up at the other forum that is now using the domain straight razor place. I saw Lynn on there so I thought that it was just updated since it's been a decade. However my account was gone and all the other historical learning forum pages and such. My thought was that it was a pity but moved on, been looking at the facebook site also under the same group name, but last night I went to type straight in a blank browser url field and sharp razor came up! There was my old account and all this still intact to my surprise. Times change folks move on but thanks for keeping it going everyone!

Wow now there is another srp forum..
I give up :)
Glad ya found us!
Strange!! I was kinda curious and went to Straight Razor Place web site (since I used to belong) just to see what it looked like and got a warning from my Anti-Virus program!? Surely they don't have Covid-19! Hope my computer didn't catch it for the few seconds I was there. But seriously, I'm kinda confused as to why my Anti-Virus program would sound an alert.
With certain "Get Off My Lawn!" types out of the picture, this is also a much friendlier environment and I think you will like it here more than before. I (and a couple others) were actually banned from the old forum due to doctrinal issues that I won't go into. Now I am quite well accepted here and feel a lot more welcome.
Perhaps you may inform us as to who the implied 'get off my lawn' types are which you are referring to?
Not much of a welcome back to this member as you talk badly of those who may be absent.
All missing members are certainly and happily accepted back as they post. Such as yourself.
With your post count (present), This is purely bad form. Using this platform such as you are.
At your service, of course
I experienced that too. If you go right to the forums section, rather than the front page, you dont get that. Weird.
Strange. What sort of warning? Do you remember the exact wording of the warning? I paid the site a visit or two and I never saw anything funny, on my Linux box, with Firefox for a browser. No antivirus here, of course. If it was just an expired security certificate or something like that, I wouldn't worry too much about that, unless you do a lot of sensitive stuff on that computer. Check with the site admin.
First time I visited I got the same warning, followed by one of those annoying pop ups "Congratulations, you are the so many millionth visitor, click here to check your prize". Very hard to get past. Today no warning but the same pop-up again. Looks like they have a problem with their security.
The warning came from McAfee warning me that the site was not safe, hackers might be able to watch my activities and asking me whether I still wanted to visit the site.
Why? Who care? Its not us and anyone wanting to go there can stay there! Its like visiting the other side. The real SRP is here encluding all the years of info. He is just a copy-cat.
Founder moved on long before the supposedly founder moved on. That’s ancient history
I am glad there are number of different forums, each with their own values and strengths.
Ours is about community and it depends on all of us.
I haven't been here from the beginning, but I've talked to many who have and I have dug out lot of the formational history which over time has been rewritten and misrepresented by some people, just like they have attempted to do with more recent history - largely unsuccessfully because everyone here could see with their own eyes and hear with their own ears the glaring mismatch between someone's words, their actions, and the hard, verifiable facts :)
Let me say this: there is no such thing as a forum founder - after all, this is a discussion forum, not a one man show like a blog. Also the closest person to a founder was pushed out more than a decade ago. The people this community owes the most are not the ones who have sought a figurehead status and in the past, for the sake of all of us getting along, have been allowed to parade as such.
To me the problem with history is that airing someone's dirty laundry is not only going to bring up a lot of stench, but it's the opposite of who we are and our values. I'd rather let them be - if they've learned and have become a better person that's the best I could hope for and I'm happy to leave their dark past buried; if they haven't realized how wrong they have been I don't think that any amount of public shaming could replace that.
In either case, it seems to me the best is to simply move forward and focus on all the positive things we can do. That's one thing worth spending my efforts on. And I'm really happy that this isn't just me but all of us felt the same - we kept taking the high road and focusing on what really matters - being the best community we can be!
I recognize that our community may not be everyone's cup of tea and that's why I'm glad there are others out there to provide different flavors and niches. I wish each of them success as I don't see the world as a zero-sum game. I see it as open and collaborative where our differences do not divide us but enrich us :)
I appreciate you guys and I'm glad you're here!
Thank God I found this thread, I was getting confused by all the name changes, and wondering which one was the real forum, glad that we're all still here, and thanks to all that kept it going.
Welcome back.
