Thanked: 636Help determining age of leather case
This J.A. Henckel 7 day leather case came with a lot of razors. Has an old repair on closure flap and Henckel twin man logo on snap closure. Was just wondering how old it is. Should I saddle soap it and clean it up or leave as is.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I can only suggest to be careful of soaking the stitching incase it is tired. There are a lot of feibings leather products that can give it some life, and protection.. At the extreme end of the scale is leatherique for restoring old car seats. I have used this on strops but it is expensive.

Pre-war for certain. Early 1900's I think.
Somebody pop that Henckels twins chart up and let's compare that button to the chart?
Oh! The RezDog did that! Looks like the 1900 one to me?
I would put it up on a shelf. Not worth much except it speaks volumes.Last edited by sharptonn; 02-19-2022 at 04:23 AM.

If it was mine when the repair was needed I think I would have stitched it with a leather string. Not glued an ugly flap over the rip.
Might be sonething to think about if you want to fix it up.It's just Sharpening, right?
