Hi,
The reason I don't like the twitter service is that it forces me to check yet another place for information. I like the forum structure as it captures the discussions and is a great focal point.

I think the Twitter thing will detract from overall discussion. People who use Twitter will discuss things on Twitter, and people who don't will not access these discussions. This will end up removing potential valuable input from the non-Twitter users. This is why I believe it should be removed entirely.
I think that's specious. There were multiple tweets with links to threads indicating that those on twitter were using it as a tool to drive conversations on the boards. There was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth that was totally unfounded. That's the whole purpose of it... use it as an outreach tool.
Do you mean you choose to speak and write correctly? ;)
Seriously though, it may not have a HUGE impact on the literacy of the youth of this country, but it sure doesn't help. Heck, I know people a year or 2 younger than myself that don't know the difference between "where" or "wear" just to name ONE example.
I really don't see how people can graduate from high school spelling and writing the way they do. I guess that's part of the "no child left behind" program huh? :p
