Thread: Review section

Hi,

Where has this section gone? I have posted several reviews here over time and the whole section now seems to have vanished.

I have been away from the site for about a year until this month, so I may have missed some announcements since then. Apologies in advance if I have

The system we used previously didnt work with our latest software upgrade so some features have been lost. I do not know why there is not a visible link to the reviews anywhere on the main page of the site, maybe staff will see this thread and shed some light on it for us (or maybe they have already in another thread?)

By the way if any dev/admin staff read this, the subheading under the "Shaving Equipment" forum category needs to have the reviews part of the description removed since the listing of the reviews sub-forums is no longer visible there

I don't know why but when I go to the review section I just get:

"Pithor, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

And when I try to log in at Straight Razor Place Reviews - Powered by vBulletin, it keeps telling me I provided a faultive log in name and/or password. Same for the wiki, by the way.

It has been doing all of that for as long as I've been a member.

That is/has been a topic of conversation among those who fix such things and will be gotten to eventually.

Well, the reviews have been dead for quite some time. Officially dead for about 3 months now and for the year before there were less than a handful new ones. They need to be redone completely, and dwessell is working on getting that done. If there is a real interest may be somebody would want to help if he needs help.

It's good to have things like these, but unless the community is interested as a whole and keep a particular feature active, sooner or later it's going to get abandoned and defunct.
If the reviews were a more vibrant section I'd have fixed them last year, but the way they were, I saw no point of spending my time on something that appeared not appreciated.

FWIW, I came looking for the reviews (the FAQ still links to them) and was disappointed to find they don't work :-/. Not sure how many others tried to access and just didn't speak up.

Yes. The chart makes it very clear that the top notes are at the top, and below those but above the base notes are the middle notes. It may have come as a surprise to some that the base notes are at the bottom.

That would be the not so brilliant way to read it.
