Thanks, this is what I'm sure we all want. An environment where we can share knowledge and no one can feel uncomfortable.
I'm inclined to agree . I don't consider myself a prude , and engage in locker room humor myself , when I'm around like minded people . However , I think threads on the topic of shaving pubic hair , open themselves up to vulgar remarks , and locker room humor . Anyone remember the "project coochie razor" thread , that had about a zillion replies , to it ? I thought that one would never die . I'll take the SRP as it comes , and I'm not going to say what should or should not be allowed . If I see a thread that I think is inappropriate , I simply don't respond to it , and if a crude reply comes to mind , I keep it to myself . JMHO
Dave, the sad part is, the "cootchie razor" was actually a good idea. As somebody who DOES shave, I have since seeing that thread made a few modified straights for that very purpose.
Knowledge was there to be had, for anybody willing to wade through the jokes and silly.
I'm glad you were able to benefit from it . I suppose it wasn't a total waste . I have to wonder how many people are really serious about shaving that area with a straight razor , since I think a beard trimmer , and a mach 3 , would be a better , and safer choice . Ah well , different strokes , for different folks .:)
Yea. there are easier and safer choices. But where is the fun in that? And damn you for ending your paragraph with a loading dock sized opening just begging for stupid comments! :rofl2:
Yeah, I agree. I agree that we should be polite, but I don't think we need to get TOO wrapped up in it all.
Sort of half way between the front bar at the pub drinking stout and you're a bit pis...I mean tipsy, and at the cinema just before the lights go out and you're watching The Lion King with your mother, grandchild and daughter...
I like to do some good natured jibing from time to time, I do think that is a gentlemanly think to do...
I'd actually like to think that every part of this site would allow for discussions with friends in public. I feel that the whole site is a discussion with friends in public. Guess it depends on who you and your friends are and where their boundaries are. I myself have used the word 'shit' and feel it should be allowed, I wouldn't have a problem using that word in public. Even the 'F' word was used repeatedly on a 4PM AM Radio National ABC program (Phillip Adams) only a week or so ago. I believe there was a warning that the interview contained 'naughty words'. I wouldn't use the 'F' word here, not without cartoon like asterisks, hash symbols etc.
I think my point might be that we all may have completely different ideas about what language is appropriate, and a lot of that would be a cultural thing, and a demographic thing, etc, but we probably all know what topics would be off limits. Stephen Fry's 'Planet Words' series was excellent in the episode where it dealt with swearing...
I have many sets of vocabulary and subjects. Talking to my Grandmother, my Grandson and everyone in between.
A friend and coworker made me laugh yesterday at work and said I am going to quote Tim! "If I was in charge the world would be a different place"
Long story but I am not in charge here and my opinions don't mean a thing. If i disagree [Which I don't} I would just leave.
