Pre de Provence

This was an eye opener for me. The scent of this soap is a bit light but not bad. Im not big on scent so i cant explain it. Hope someone else can jump in and explain the scent. I was told its a standard French scent, whatever that is worth.

Now i hope i dont get flamed too bad saying this but... I think Pre de Provence soap feels and acts damn near like MDC but at a lot less of the cost. Ingredients are about the same. At 13.50 for 150g puck its a drop in the bucket compared to MDC.

This is just my opinion but i recommend everyone to order some of this soap and check it out for yourself. Im convinced! Now if it came in a nicer container. It comes in a very thin aluminum shaped container with a screw on lid. Not bad looking, but you could dent the thing just setting it down too hard. And I did not find this soap in Obie's list so maybe he needs to try it too?

Just wanted to share. I hope nobody buys any so the price dont go up. And if it had more options for scent would be nice too.

I really liked the lather of PdP soap (in a tin), but really didn't like the scent, so I ended up giving it away.

Pre de Provence has an herbal scent, which I tend to enjoy. However, if you like the performance of the soap, I'd recommend trying No. 63, which has a warm, spicy scent. These soaps are enriched with Shea butter and leave the face feeling soft, and they have excellent matching aftershave balms. I like the PdP No. 63 bath soap, as it comes in a large 200g size for under $7, and the scent is hard to beat.

The scent is a green herbal sage, not the cooking sage. The 63 scent is a sweet woody scent, a bit too sweet for me but if you like non-funky sandalwoods like Harris sandalwood cream you’ll probably like it. The balm is excellent and is cheap for a balm that performs that well.

Was not bad, but didn’t measure up to my other soaps (incl. Martin de Candre) and - as I have too many soaps as it is - Pre de Provence fell victim to a purge.
Regarding the scent, I found it pleasant enough but unremarkable - not sure whether this qualifies as “explaining the scent”.

I did not care for the “63” scent and as I knew from the original how it was likely to perform
I was never tempted to try.

The interesting bit is that this French soap is not available anywhere in France, or elsewhere in Europe for that matter, and seems to have been created for the North American market to compete with L’Occitane and their “Provence” theme even before Martin de Candre became better known.
