what do you guys think of the wilkinson sword soap?
i have it and it seems to be fine, i get a decent lather with a wilkinson brush and a ceramic coffee mug. i use the three finger pressure on the bristles to pick up the soap, then lather up in the mug. however, the lather doesn't seem to be as good anymore the second time round, for the second pass. don't know if it's my process or the soap or what. i would like to add some more glycerin to it to see what happens, and some EOs, but i'll have to wait till i get my hands on these.
with the glycerin, could anybody tell me how much i should be adding, to a soap already containing glycerin, i assume only a few drops should do the trick?

also, what are your thoughts on omega soap? i am thinking of buying some.

Don't know Wilkinson or Omega soap.I think the standard for glycerine use is about 5 to 7 drops.

I'm not that keen on the Wilkinson soap for the reason you mention. The first lather is fine then it fizzles out. With most other soaps I can get a decent four passes from the one pickup of soap, just adding a little hot water each time.

Never tried the Omega but have heard it's the same as the Proraso soap, which is rather good! Easily get my four passes from Proraso.

The Wilkinson Sword shave stick, which contains tallow, is a pretty good performer for the price. Omega soap, in the black container, is a good soft soap that, as previously stated, performs and behaves much like Proraso. I like both the Omega SS and SC.

That's the stuff. I've never bought off of ebay, soap that is, but this is the stuff. I think you will like it better than Wilkinson. Check out the Wiki on lather building, pretty good stuff out there.

I just did a review on Omega soap - it's pretty good, but quite soft for a soap, almost a cream. Lathers really well and has a nice menthol kick to it. Not sure about the eBay price, but it goes for around $6 US on Amazon.com. You can do the Euro to USD conversion for yourself and work out which is better for you.

I didn't try Wilkinson, or Omega, but I have Proraso, and that's a great stuff.
If You have some local stores, try to find some Palmolive cream, it's cheap and very good. You can find it in the Müller cosmetic stores. (I don't know if You have some over there, we have it here in Hungary.) Oh, and Nivea RC is good either.

I don't dislike the Wilkinson soap, but it's no great shakes on it's own.

However, I have used it on it's own and you can add just a small amount of a cream and it produces a fantastic lather.

If you get it right, it's not bad at all.

Why not just use the cream?

The wilkinson stick is actually really really good, especially for the price. I've never tried the bowl, but it's apparently your basic cold-pour SLS stuff. meh.
