Since I am a straight man and that implies a lack of taste I will only commment the following. It needs to be bigger than 4 oz as I hate running out of a favorite AS too quickly. I didn't like the metal caps on some in the second photo. Other than that I have no other useful comments. lol :)

Either is fine by me. What ever is cheaper.
I like the woozy bottle styles. With the right label, I think they could really have a nice "old fashioned" look to them. I also like the glass bottles better, but it wold depend on the impact it has on price. I wouldn't mind spending a bit more for the glass if the price difference is minor.

I like the woozy style bottles as well. I would suggest that if you include SRP#2 in your product line that you consider putting it in tinted glass...maybe milk white to obscure the brackish tint of the liquid. Just a thought...I don't have a problem with brown aftershave, others might.

I do think that I can design a very nice label to fit the bottle and then the "look" could be acheived by a nice touch of a label to go around the neck.
Unfortunately there is no choice of color when it comes to the bottles.....its either clear or clear...:rant: ....frustrating as hell actually, I should have been a bottle designer! I am still waiting for a responce from the company in the North West, this is the company that has the amber colored woozy bottles. The clincher is always the minimum order.........This is how the large companies keep smaller fry out of the big pond.
Because this is to be an Aftershave for SRP.....it's my thought that the label be titled ....What ? do you want just the letters SRP ? or to spell it out.....should it have SRP on the neck of the bottle.....:hmmm: that might be kinda cool and then the aftershave will have a name, of course that will have to come later after we decide on a scent.....
This is all the fun part of putting a product together !!!!

I thought perhaps you would like to see the woozy bottles and new containers for soap/cream. Yes....that's me still trying to perfect the product line....
I am going to post these photographs on the regular thread to ask for comments on the bottles, in particular for the Cologne and will probably leave the AS bottles "open" just to see if anyone says anything.
Also mentioned to me numerous times is a request for shaving soap in a tub...and in a smaller size. The containers are straight walled and have straight lids for a more masculine feel.
The labels are just what I have in my head......but I think an application similar for the 5 oz. bottle would look nice and it does have a Handsome feel to it.
What do you think so far?

Great looking. Although I still like the black ones you had the shaving cream in. The bottles look great with a very manly look to it. Any hint as to SRP standing
Love the labels! My favorite bottle is the square one, but I really like the neck band on the woozy type bottles. The soap/cream jars are quite nice; of the lot, I think I like the largest one on the far right side. Maybe most surprisingly, the brown liquid in the clear glass bottles is really quite attractive...it compliments the tan labels.

Sometimes I find I get the best straightforward thoughts when I just put a picture up and don't say to much. I still have the black containers....so let me clarify a little. Currently its my plan to only change the lid....not the container itself. I put the amber ones in the photograph to show the new smaller size with the flat lids. (aka what I have downstairs )
I will be ordering the new lids today....they are flat, smooth (no ridges) very classy, that fit nicely on the current black containers and with the right label would be able to sit on any shelf in NYC....;)
We do have one comment for Pancake Syrup for the woozy bottles...:roflmao but this is when the general population is looking at them with a bottle choice for "Cologne" in mind, we will see what transpires today as I asked this morning for any opinions on using the other bottles for an Aftershave....
For the AS "free for all" I think we still have one week left for one of our testers to finish up and that's ok....as I'm fast and furious at the blending table so this is giving me a little extra time for the next round which will immediately follow.

On another subject, I'm good with a light rose scent...my typical aftershave application is an alum block followed by GFT's Coral Skin Food.

Rose is okay with me. I'm just finishing a tub of ToOBS rose scented shave cream. After this one I move to the almond scented cream.
Okay guys. You are no longer waiting on me. Final thoughts have been sent on the three a/s splashes, cologne samples and the 9 soap samples I tried.

Ok Here goes
In last place Sample #2 - Did not like the scent, the apearance and harsh feeling on skin.
The runner up Sample #1 - Scent was ok, the appearance was ok, felt great on the face( my favorite in fact)
The winner in my humble opinion Sample #3. Scent was great, appearance very good and was good feel on my face.
The scent reminded me of an aftershave i had when I was 17 (long ago) Hawaiian Surf.. Good memories..
I think all the samples had the same staying power but that is hard for me to judge as after a while I get used to it and don't notice it anymore.
I liked the Cavandish Black cologne the best followed by Desert Ironwood.
MY one sample of soap Desert Ironwood was also very nice with a good lather.:D
I did like the scent of #2, but it still came in last place for me. The scent strikes me as a holiday sort of thing...cloves, citrus, mincemeat pie, that sort of thing. I'll certainly keep the sample and use it this fall. I also have no problem with the color and think it would look good against the tan labels that Colleen is planning to use on the clear bottles.
Runner up, #3. I liked the scent, but neither of the women in my life were thrilled. Very fresh cut woodsy, cooling, soothing, and it works very well following application of alum.
My favorite, #1. The wife likes it (strong scents are a no-no with her...)!!! I like the light scent and the cooling of the menthol. Unlike #2 and to a lesser extent #3, I found that I did not need to rinse my hands off following application. This one also did not seem to dry as fast (maybe no or less alcohol?) so I used a bit less for what seemed like an appropriate amount than the other two. It also behaves quite well in combination with an alum block.
I quite enjoyed the lavendar shaving soap...I'm trying to keep myself from ordering some----must resist as I still have a year or two supply of various creams!
Anyway...those are my initial reactions. Who's next?

Sample #1:Like Rich, I also thought #1 was an excellent cooling and soothing AS. I'm curious whether our sensitive-skin testers thought so too. It seemed to be astringent, but w/o a burning sensation. It was nearly scent free on me... what little there was (mint?) dissipated totally in 15-min. I think this would be an excellent AS for everyone intending to apply EDT/Cologne afterward.Sample #2:The color didn't bother me, but I didn't like the "shake well before using" feature. Upon application there was a complex combination of sensations... a minor cooling feeling (which I guess was soothing) offset by the "alcohol burn" feeling for too long... 15-min on me... I guess that would be astringent, too. And, it had a "sticky" sensation for 15-minutes on me. Not that it was actually sticky that long... it just felt that way... very strange. Maybe the burn and the sticky sensations are connected somehow... may an allergic reaction? The scent lasted about an hour on me. The first day I didn't like it at all... just smelled like orange juice. But it seemed to get better each day... still had the OJ to deal with for the first half hour, but then some other subtle things became evident... dunno... maybe cinnamon, touch of mint, and something earthy... anyway, I liked those bottom notes. But overall it's a dud in it's current form.Sample #3:Some soothing and cooling affect when applied... maybe 1-2 minutes of alcohol-type burn. Some astringent qualities. The scent lasted for over 2-hours on me. I couldn't place the fragrance and it was mediocre on me (although on others with different ph and skin oils it could do well). On me, I thought it needed something more... :shrug:Rich, it's strange you should mention Hawaiian Surf... I used that starting in high school until it was no longer available. Canoe was the big thing when I was in college, but it was too strong for me... HS was nice and a lot lower key... and cheap, too, LOL. But I don't recall it and #3 being similar... wasn't HS predominantly a lime/citrus scent ? Geeze... it was only 40-years ago... I don't know why I can't remember what it smelled like :roflmao
As to the Cologne samples...DI smelled nice in the vial, but once applied it reminded me a lot of turpentine/paint thinner. Here in the desert there's a plant called Creosote Bush (aka grease wood)... that's a better fitting name for this when I'm wearing it, lol.Oh... and as to the soap samples... what soap samples? :roflmao:roflmao
I liked the Cavendish scent but it wasn't quite strong enough and didn't last (at least on me) to be viable as an EDT. Toned down a bit it might make a nice AS though?
The Leatherneck was nice, but to "ladies perfume" smelling on me... originally I was thinking "too floral', but that's not it... it's not what is there that's wrong for me... it's lacking something in the bottom note arena... maybe a touch of musk or some other earthy scent.
Joe, Same here as to HS, remember it had the cork exterior around the bottle. I don't know why but as soon as I smelled SRP #3 that's what I thought of and I was taken back to a better time and place. In addition my wife liked it and that is a first for my after shaves. She gets migraine headaches and most scents kill her. This one from the first day she said wow, what is that, it smells nice. I was shocked.. Pleasently as I liked it too.Quote:

Overall from what has been posted here and what I have received PM....#3 is the winner, #1 is second and #2 sucks ( excuse the unlady like expression)
but that just sorda sums it up!

I actually liked the feel of #2, but the scent of #3 was awesome. #1 reminded me of Vics vapor rub.
I rated them in reverse order: 3,2,1. The witch hazel scent in #1 kept me from REALLY liking it. I thought they were all very effective. And Rich, I got NO soap samples. It was an April Fools joke. So, since you got one, apparently Colleen likes you better than me. I'm jealous!

back again....it is my belief that the hydrosol is much stronger than I thought possible and the combination of the # of herbs that have astringent qualities was overkill. I can see that I could cut the number by half and I could dilute at the 50% range with Aloe....and it would still be an effective astringent.
I also know now which herbs to leave out so that it doesn't turn brown ( at least I'm hoping....lol ) and I think what I will end up using will be a more golden color....shall we say.....like liquid sunshine...lol. ( I am being very lady like today! )
This was a very valuable peice of information for me Gentlemen and I Thank you!
I am a little short on this morning, so suffice it to say that the stickiness some of you seem to note comes from glycerin.....now, why some of you notice it and others don't....I have no clue.
I believe overall the skin healing properties are there......the scents need some work and the AS need more moisturizing qualities. Still trying to stick within my natural realm of ingredients to choose from, God in his wisdom has "at the most appropriate time" helped me to stumble across some very interesting ingredients which I will share with you briefly.
Liquid Shea Butter......ahhhhhh, ya know.....like a giant light bulb here, a fine ingredient to add to AS, although I think it lends itself to more of an AS Milk or Balm
Another interesting ingredient is a derivative of cornstarch used to give the liquid a feeling of having some "body" instead of a water like consistency and will leave the skin with a satiny feel.
Another is a derivative of Oats....(yes Gentlemen! your Grandmother's Oatmeal. We all remember taking baths in Oatmeal for Chicken Pox or am I telling my age...LOL ) which also helps to give a feeling of body and is a "humectant" <sp?...so it draws any moisture from the air. This will aide in the need for a more moisturizing feeling and 'm hopeful that for those who live in arid conditions this will be an added benefit.
We will also be trying a combination of a special type of Olive Oil and Olive Oil Squalane. The combination of these special ingredients I believe are the key to help with the "after feel" of leaving your skin feeling moisturized and soothed.
Olive Oil Squalane is VERY BENEFICIAL to the skin.....they say it helps with wrinkles too.....important for those of us who are baby boomers!! lol....
My sweet Mother is here today helping me, I have several orders to go out.....so I have to run, but will be back later this evening to talk about the scents we will try this time. ( all should go out by Saturday....)

I do have one question for you.....on the samples sizes that were sent last time did you feel that the amount of the sample was adequate in size for testing?
