aka ridge gimper ;)
Colleen,
Sent you a quick preview note. Couldn't wait:w
Thank You! I can always count on you to "run" point.....;)
This is mostly because I have to send out one of those creams to the general population next week and I'm just trying to figure out if I need to make some adjustments before I send out this other round.
and yes.......still sniffing around for clues on the "rose scent" ....LOL.

Hey is everyone enjoying package #2.. I am.
Good Afternoon Gents!
Its a beautiful sunny 80 degrees here today and I'm thinking I should start my tomato plants. Does anyone else here raise a garden, or maybe just a few tomatoes ?
Just a quick question.....I wanted to know if the amount of shaving cream in each bag is adequate for test purposes ?
XXWarm Regards, Colleen
Why sure. I always like trying new things... this is sorta like the wine tasting of shaving accouterments. Now if we only had cigars and a masseuse :roflmao:roflmao
When I lived in Pennsylvania and New Jersey I always had a good sized vegetable garden. I have a very small one here in Arizona. In the Phoenix area you plant two gardens a year... one in late Winter and one in the Fall, but from early June to October it's too hot for much to grow well. The soil and water here is very alkaline, so many things you take for granted back East don't grow well here... honestly, I haven't tasted a decent tomato since I moved here. And, since we don't get very many cold nights in the winter, nothing that requires a significant number of winter-chill hours (eg, apples, peaches, pears, raspberries) bears much fruit here either.
Was plenty for me.
Yes indeed....the all important cream/water ratio ;)
This remains one of the difficulties with the cream and it is two-fold. I have learned that there are two outside elements that affect the cream, one I am learning to modify and the other is out of my hands.
Part of the difficulty with the cream/water ratio, has to do with the hardness of the water where you live. I have drawn this conclusion over a period of time based on endless comments from Gents where in one state the cream works great, but in a different part of the country the cream only performs satisfactorily, and this is after some amount of experimenting with the water ratio.
This is actually a drawback from a "sell" point of view....unless a person is interested in the fact that there are no SLS ingredients in the cream, this is why the cream can behave so differently.
aannnnddd the other thing I've learned is that humidity or lack thereof plays a HUGE part when I formulate a batch....the liquid ratio in my batch is different by as much as 6 oz when the when the weather begins to change from cold to warm....and then warm to cold.
Sorda like how the oil companies say we have winter gasoline and summer gasoline.....:roflmao
I appreciate your comments Gentlemen !!

Colleen,
You've got a PM of my review of package #2.
As to gardens...if my blisters could talk.
Actually, we've cut back dramatically on vegetable gardening since moving to Alabama. In Missouri, my vegetable garden was about 1000 square feet of bottomland soil. We grew enough vegetables to keep us in canned and frozen vegetables all year long. Here (thank goodness) the deer make it difficult to grow any vegetables at all without substantial fencing. It's cheaper (and easier) to visit the local farmers market each week. Even so, I still put in a few tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and a bunch of herbs each year. I've also got enough blueberries to freeze 20+ pounds (deer tend to leave vaccinium's and most herbs alone).
Cheers,
Ed
How's everyone coming with their testing of the 2nd package of samples? Ed posted he's completed and I'll be filing my report this weekend. How much longer do the rest of you need?
Also, please make sure you provide some specific details in rhe evals you send to Colleen... ie, specifically what you liked and what you didn't regarding fragrance, various aspects of the conditioning, etc. Just telling her it was "ok", or that you "didn't like it", etc. will not give her any clues on how to make the next round meet our needs better. I know... duh... but I had to say it since a couple of our testers filed little or no evaluations for the first set... we need the second set to go better.
Good Morning Gentlemen!
I had a very busy day yesterday and couldn't seem to squeeze in 5 minutes for a quick post, BUT.....this morning here I sit with my cup'a Joe and I have about 30 minutes before I have to get to work on filling all of my Pre-Orders :y
Joe I have to admit that I found your poll/questionaire to be "extraordinaire" :tu ....... this is all soooooo helpful, and now for a girly note.
I think that everyone is beginning to see that testing can be a long process, it takes time. The entire process just takes time......I imagine often times what it must be like for these big companies with their laboratories, and all the latest technology, and the very expensive testing equipment they have....I can see them all running around in their white coats with the trusty clipboards in hand.....
And then...there would be the Soapmistress and you fine Gentlemen testers...affectionately dubbed some time ago as the "Razormen" the brave testers who go where no man has gone before.....
Each of you contribute in your own special way, which I think is the clue to giving us an edge over the fancy laboratories and their controlled studies. Ha, take that big business!!
So the Razormen go off on their quest of searching for a great aftershave, with Sgt. Joe directing the group's mission. Up front we always have RichZ who runs point ;) out there ahead of everyone searching for any immediate dangers.....like "causes skin to peel from face"...LOL.
Then we have our middle group of Razormen who like to feel the situation out, and ponder over the notes in the Aftershaves...."like a fine Wine"....;) and you send excellent detailed reports back to camp, including notes on how your mission is affecting your loved ones at home. "This has been a HUGE eye opener".
And then..... we have Randy............;)
Randy brings up the rear. A most important position, as he tries to search out anything and everything that others have missed along the way. Going to the extremes of testing, trying to be sure that after your mission is complete....that the Men who come after;.... in search of SRP's labeled AS, will only have to experience an Aftershave that is cooling, soothing...and stops all weepers dead in their tracks.
So I raise my cup'a Joe to the Razormen of SRP....Here Here! :bow
Soapmistress...now I gotta get to work !
I don't think I've ever been called "slow poke" quite so elegantly!:D
RT
I am slow on this one because I kept using #5 which my wife really liked, took me a bit to get to #6. I have now officially sent in my report though.
Ok guys can everyone write in and say how far they are. I am the very curious type. No opinions yet just if you have finished testing or how far along..:w
I've only got shaving cream #3 left...other than that my review is in.
Ed
I start #6 tonight, along with SC #3.
RT
Final thoughts sent!
RT
and received; Thank you Gentlemen! :tu
I will be going over everyone's notes sometime this evening, and writing down a few questions for our group.
I apologize for my lack of participation here as of late, but Fellas......I am covered up with orders, which is a good thing! ;) but it sure takes away from any time available to hang out on the computer and chat.
in the meantime......Does anyone want to post their overall thoughts on the differences between the two groups of AS and the scents used?
XXWarm Regards, Colleen
Overall here is what I found.
I loved scent#3 from the first group, my wife also liked it but really loved scent #5 from the second group. I also liked scent #4 but not as much as #3.
As for feel I liked #4 and #1 nice cooling effect. #6 had a slight burning feel.
I think #5 lasted the longest scent wise. The rest didn't seem to last as long as I would have liked.
With the exception of #2 I would have been somewhat happy with all of the rest to a greater or lesser degree. I was not a fan of the chocolate mint smell.
I think I would like #3 scent with #4 feel with #5 staying power.
See Colleen men are never satisfied... :D :D
Yes I am Johnny on the spot once again..:roflmao
I glad you didn't say stalking :roflmao I can live with lurking..
Hmmm... a lurking commando shaver...
OK Colleen,
Part of the problem with point men is that they also want to hear back as rapidly....:D
How are the responces coming in. sorry I am a pain but I am really loving this...:D
You're kidding me right! Men like to hear back.....I had no idea, I suppose I'm waitin on y'all and y'all are waitin on me.....:roflmao
Sorry....I have just covered up with orders and only managed to get myself caught back up as of yesterday. I am leaving here in 10 mi. to go talk to Amir....I am going to try to get one page up on the website each week, maybe two....I don't know.
For the AS..........I'll have to answer back late this afternoon, as I also wear the hat of bank manager, errand girl, and provision chief ... ;)
XXWarm Regards, Colleen
You being covered with orders is a great thing it means you will be selling us soap for a long while. No one is in business not to make money so excuse my impatients, I am just a tad jumpy lately. Work is not the best.
Colleen,
You should have reports from all 7 of us at this point for samples 4-6... how many still owe you evaluations?
I know you got some reports last time which didn't provide any evaluation details beyond whether the person liked/disliked the sample... has that been the case this time as well?
Good Evening Gentlemen,
I have received reports from 5 of you. I started cross referencing your opinions yesterday evening, and will finish up by tomorrow morning. ( I made 80 bars of soap today...:nj ) and will post which base is the favorite and which scent is the favorite.
The website will start coming up this week, but I'm not telling anyone except you fine Gentlemen here and 1 or 2 others. I'll let you know for sure. It would be very helpful if you'll just look around and see that links and pages all seem to arranged in the correct order and that everything is working.
I'm nervous....I feel like I'm having a baby...LMAO
XXWarm Regards, Colleen
If I am one of those who needs to expand my reports let me know, I tend to be of few words. Also I have sent reports for all AS samples, if you haven't recieved one let me know.
You are so kind! but no, you're just fine.....all who have written in on our tester thread, have sent in their opinions, and they're perfect in detail and objectivity. But two Gentlemen remain quiet :hmmm: .... However, I in my positive manner take this as a complete agreement to do whatever I want to do....:y Not at all like being married... LMAO.
I just got up 30 minutes ago and haven't my first cup of joe, I'll be back a little later with my findings.
