No wonder I dumped Trumper soap
Gentlemen,
Some years back I used Trumper shave soap in the regular rotation. I thought it was a quality soap. Then it disappeared from the shave den. Recently I came across the soap on sale. Since I could not remember the reason for its disappearance from the shave den, I ordered a couple wooden shave bowls of it, a rose and a sandalwood. This week I used both bowls with a variety of brushes, adjusting the water ratio, and almost doing cartwheels to make a half way decent lather.
This stuff, for such a high price soap, is dreadful. The lather is anemic, its texture lumpy, it lacks moisture, and the cushion and glide are nothing to brag about. What a bust! I understand the soap was reformulated. I don't know about that. All I know is that at one time I liked the soap and now find it worthless.
Through the years I have tried many artisan soaps and creams, most of which I have found to be mediocre or not good at all. Trumper is not an artisan soap. This is a prominent name. What's more, I like the Trumper creams. The soap, though — there is nothing to like about this. And for that money? Oy! I have relegated both pucks to the shower, but I am not expecting much from the soap there either.
No wonder I dumped Trumper soap in the first place.
