I have been shaving for about 50 years or more and have not used that many different soaps. Like most young guys I used what ever dad had in the bath room. when I went in the service I ended up using the canned foam. Gillette I think. then I went from shaving soap to plane old bath soap and shaved in the shower to save time. now that having time is not the problem I'm using a straight razor and enjoying the shave. I said all that to say this I went to a friends house Monday and we talked about many things but mostly about razors and honing . I watched him clean up an old wade and butcher and it really looks nice. he then sat down and honed it and one that I brought. I got to watch and learn a little more. after the honing came the testing. He showed me the bath room where he test shaves the razors and that's when I found out about the different soaps. I don't know the name of the soap or cream I used but it was great. it took very very little on the end of a wet brush to create the best lather I have every used. I stropped the blades and each one seamed to glide over the beard and if it wasn't for a smooth face I would not have know I was shaving. no nicks or weepers or red colors anywhere. There is a difference in soap and or creams. I have found out after all these years that for the difference in the shave the cost is well worth it. I will be trying many different products now . Thanks Lynn for teaching this old do new tricks.
