Straight razor soap

Anyone use I Coloniali mango oil shave cream lately ?
using MWF with my D/E but it's a little tricky with hard water and water
temp ... Usually not a problem at all but being new to straights , I wanted to eliminate any issues and came up with I Coloniali mango oil ..... Worth a try?

I have used I Coloniali mango oil shave soap. It is a good soap, lathers well, with fine cushion and glide, and the fragrance is heavenly. There are better soaps out there, but I Coloniali is worth the try.

Well, to eliminate variables I would start with a cream soap such as TOBS or something similar. Cream lathers much easier. Once you get the hang of some of the other aspects of wet shaving you can explore the glory that available in shaving soaps

Tabac is a good soap also; it lathers well, with good cushion and glide. Some gentlemen don't like the fragrance and some do. I did. Other good soaps include: Provence Sante, Institute Karite, Cella, Le Pere Lucien, Klar Kabinette, Klar Seifen, Valobra, The Art of Shaving (the old formula, if you can find a puck), Mike's Natural Soaps, Czech & Speake, and the celestial Martin de Candre. There are other fine soaps, but these should help you out for now.

You can't go wrong with Obie's suggestions for sure. It seems to me the slickest soaps I have tried tend to be tallow based soaps for some reason. I will throw a real cheapie at you and suggest Arko. It lathers easily in hard water from reports and will build a rich thick slick lather. It punches way above it's price class. The down side is the lemony scent which some do not like.

Obie's suggestions are great. However, I haven't tried them all. I will note that Institut Karit while having a wonderful fragrance, didn't have a staying lather effect, often disappearing from my face prematurely. Instead, I'll use it in combination with glycerin and a mild or unscented hard soap.

I would also point out that I have hard water. My 2nd soap was VDH. Finally, achieved a real lather. My 3rd was Proraso Green. It's really my mainstay. Easy to lather, good glide and awesome menthol sensation on the skin. I highly recommend. Oh, and price was good as well.

ps-forgot to add TOBS(Taylor of Old Bond Street) soap cream soaps. I have the grapefruit and its a magnificent lather, scent, glide, cushion.

If you dont mind the 20 dollar range of soaps I recently tried and loved a soap that really doesnt get much love here on the forum for some reason but I think its amazing. Its LA shaving soap. They have a bayrum scent that is amazing and their topanga fougere is top notch. This is the only bay rum I have found to date that I like. Its a softer soap, lathers easily(even with so cal hard water) and was super slick.
