I know you will not regret the decision. They say to let it dry after using it, i guess so that no moisture stays locked in the jar. i dont think its the end of the world if you dont, just a recommendation. I could probably shave with MdC every single day for 365 days straight, and not use up the whole jar. That being said, with a rotation of soaps and creams that is always growing, that is closer to several years at a minimum. I have several top end soaps, including xpec, and if i could trade my xpec for MdC i would. YMMV
It is confusing. The site states the soap is allowed to dry six months before packaging. I don't know it it dries in the jar or in some other way.
I keep my jars (2) closed but do put a little water on top while I prep. IIRC, Jimbo lets his jar dry overnight and then puts on the top.
Agree with you Tom.....my moral compass was thrown off by being too close to some rare earth magnets.....
I don't see me using a whole jar of MDC in three years. I rotate so only use it once sometimes twice a week. I don't leave it open, never had a problem. I like to refer to it as the "Energizer Bunny" because you cannot wear it out. I have both the Fourgere and the lavender and love both
I feel funny about the thought that my shaving soap collection may outlive me. I have 2 MDC's....like everyone says, forget price, this stuff is worth it on all levels including it's mystical quality of lasting forever.
if this is any help ive been using MDC fougere for about 1 1/2 years , shave with it 4 days a week , then I mix in my other favorites, but mainly the MDC, I haven't used half of it yet so I,m guessing Tom is very correct , for the money its really not expensive at all and it sure does leave the skin feeling great tc
It does make the face feel warm and loved.
MdC is one of the few soaps that actually provide instructions on use. What I found amazing was the note to simply wipe off the remaining lather. No rinsing needed.
As said above, it is the best buy in the soap world. I have to get some of that lavender.
To keep it brief:
1. Martin de Candre (MdC)
2. Valobra hard soap
Excellent performers both, slightly different scents - MdC more powerful, Valobra more faint.
Both in my current rotation.
